I would imagine dBW is not log10(P in watts) but rather log10( (P in watts) / 1 watt )

seems silly to take the log of a number that has a unit - the argument of log should be unitless.

correct, and it's also no Power (measured) in dBW, but some dimensionless quantity, cf. percent. 91.15.129.26 (talk) 15:36, 25 October 2010 (UTC)Reply
