"Cagan received her undergraduate Bachelor of General Studies degree from the University of Iowa in 1975. She went on to earn her MA in journalism from the University of Iowa in 1977. While an undergraduate at the university, she was elected head of the U.I. Student Senate, not as a Republican or Democrat, but as the representative of the "Better Days party"

Birth date and place

She appears to be from the Virginia or Maryland areas. Ancestry.com cites her public records for "Montgomery County, Maryland" and "Howard County, Maryland." Could she have been born in a city in one of those areas? Or perhaps those are just voting registrations. "Norfolk City, Virginia," is also cited (simply given as "Norfolk" in other databases that list her various previous addresses). Records should give her specific day of birth, but I didn't take them up on the free 14-day trial.

HIV claim

I'll assume the HIV positive category was a baseless and quite henious addition to make. If I'm wrong, please source it. And a note to other potential wasters posting nonsense here: Why? Iron Cross

If you read the article at footnote 2 you will see that the "iron cross" is in fact the "Commander's Cross Order of Merit" awarded by the Hungarians to her at that event. Please discuss what you see as an attack? I chose my language carefully where I needed to conject together information from sources. I stuck to basics - i.e. why she has hit the frontpages and her employment track record. There's no opinion presented in the information given, only what details are available on this political figure via the internet.HaudCivitas 08:18, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Islamophobia category

Although I support this, or a category like it, existing I don't think her statements on Iran make it clear she fits. It needs to be clear she encourages fear or hatred or discrimination against Muslims, or studies the issue, to make her relevant.--T. Anthony 03:32, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you very much for discussing this matter, instead of only reverting. I see your point that there is no direct source stating her as being Islamophobic. Her claimed statements are clearly "anti-Iranian" in nature, i.e she "hates all Iranians", which could be interpreted literally as anyone ethnically Iranian, as beyond the nation-state of Iran, but not clearly Islamophobic. I think a category on Islamophobia is as valid as say Category:Anti-Buddhism. Although I think adding it to an article should be done with some caution especially in the case of living people. What does Iran have to do with Hungary?

Can somebody please explain to me what Cagan's alleged quote about Iran has to do with a photograph of her receiving an award from the Hungarian Ambassador to the United States? As written this paragraph makes no sense. GabrielF (talk) 03:02, 4 January 2011 (UTC)
