debit and credit
- Keep I wasn't searching for "Credit", and wouldn't have thought of doing so. Bandwidth and space are no longer expensive, as they once were, and are not a factor, IMHO. Simplicity of finding information should be the primary concern here, not consolodation. Leave it where it is, and link to Credit if you want to.
- Merge Seems to be a mirror imagine of credit --KSnortum 00:41, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- Keep They are direct opposites, why should they be merged?24.57.56.223 20:32, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- Merge Because are opposite of each other therefore related and should be in one place together to understand better the both Debit and Credit.
- Merge The whole point of double-entry accounting is that credits and debits MUST co-exist. They are yin and yang. And if the articles are virtually identical, there's no point in wasting the space and the bandwidth to have the information twice.
- Merge; intertwined concepts do not need separate articles. Jlittlet 23:16, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
- KEEP: DO NOT MERGE: While double-entry accounting requires that every debit have an equal credit to maintain the equality of the accounting equation, the action of debiting, (or charging) an account, (i.e., posting to the left side of the account) is not the same as crediting an account, (i.e., posting to the right side of the account). One should not conflate "left" and "right," or, for that matter "debit" and "credit." Although they are mirror image concepts, they are different; and, therefore deserve separate treatment. To combine the two articles is to invite and foster confusion.--Lance 04:47, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
