Alpha Farm and Deadwood edit

Isn't Alpha, Oregon itself the location of Alpha Farm? Not Deadwood?

Technically, yes. Alpha, Oregon was simply the name of a post office which operated out of the property that is now Alpha Farm. In pioneer times, Alpha seems to refer to what we now call Upper Deadwood. Alpha being named after the postmasters daughter, Alpha Lundy.
Unfortunately, information on this subject just isn't found online, so is hard to cite for a wikipedia article. Alpha Farm, having existed as an intentional community for 52 years with a large impact on both the local area and the back-to-land movement, deserves its own article.
I hope to make the information needed for that to happen public and accessible within the next few years. Shinbickler (talk) 11:13, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
