– Per WP:NCVGDAB. Series article should get primary placement as the series is long enough. ZXCVBNM (TALK) 15:33, 16 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

Oppose: I am not too sure about this. The original game is likely still the primary topic, since the "franchise", excluding the spin-offs, only include two video games (with the sequel being stuck in development hell forever). OceanHok (talk) 16:50, 16 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • There are also spinoffs, a comic and a novel.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 11:36, 17 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
  • At this point, they are more like "spin-offs of the first game" rather than "spin-offs in a franchise". OceanHok (talk) 13:11, 17 November 2020 (UTC)Reply
Oppose per OceanHok. The naming guidance is applicable if the series is more likely the primary topic than the individual game. This does not seem to be the case here. — HTGS (talk) 21:02, 16 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

The result of the move request was: Not moved. Sufficient proof (links, statistics, and so on) that the series has become the primary topic over the game should be gathered before re-requesting this set of moves. (non-admin closure) Rotideypoc41352 (talk · contribs) 02:49, 27 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

– Reopening move discussion now that Dead Island 2 is out. The first game is in no way the unequivocal primary topic any longer. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 04:13, 29 April 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 07:29, 6 May 2023 (UTC) — Relisting. >>> Extorc.talk 08:35, 13 May 2023 (UTC)— Relisting. >>> Extorc.talk 08:59, 20 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose: It may not be the unequivocal primary topic, but I still don't see why the franchise is the primary topic over the first game in this instance. Dead Island 2 is more commonly described as the "sequel to the first game" rather than the "second installment in the series" for now. OceanHok (talk) 14:12, 30 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Support per nom, and the fact that the first game is not necessarily more notable than the rest (a.k.a., what's going on with BioShock). Steel1943 (talk) 17:29, 13 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. That there's a new entry does not somehow mean the primary topic is changed all of a sudden. Do reliable sources treat the franchise as such, does "Dead Island" mean the series and not the first game? I don't think so. soetermans. ↑↑↓↓←→←→ B A TALK 21:17, 13 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • Oppose Per WP:NCVGDAB, "Dead Island" appears to refer to the first game more than the franchise and thus should be considered the primary topic. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 18:06, 24 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose per above. The first game still seems to be the primary.  — Amakuru (talk) 15:25, 26 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
