History of Civil War Era and African Americans?
editThis is a Southern school founded in the antebellum era. What was its role in this history and when were African-Americans allowed admission thereto?
The Davidson African American history question is mine also, esp since the history of the first women students is given and since the NBA's Stephen Curry is touted as one of Davidson's most prominent alums. This needs to be addressed. --Pulley12 (talk) 17:06, 31 January 2019 (UTC)
cotton mill in Salisbury
editI cut this part b/c it is too detailed. And what is the point, reall? The mill was later used as a prison, but the college had nothing to do with that. It is confusing because it implies some kind of culpability. "Upon his death, Davidson College inherited a cotton mill in Salisbury, North Carolina, then known as the Rowan Factory. In 1861, the college sold the factory to the Confederate government, which would then be used as a prison by the Confederacy throughout the Civil War." -- Melchior2006 (talk) 15:18, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
