Untitled edit

David Noton is a professional photographer of world class stature and I do not understand why he cannot be given an entry in Wiki. His associates have entries - Joe Cornish, Charlie Waite to name two.

Tone problems edit

This article needs to be entirely rewritten. It sounds like an advertisement for the guy. Can anyone help? Also, I think an infobox needs to be added. What do people think of this? Chevymontecarlo 14:10, 2 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Years of experience edit

The first paragraph says that he has over 24 years of professional experience. The third paragraph says that he started a photography business in 1985. 1985 to now is more than 24 years. This discrepancy made me google it, and at this website [1]https://www.artphotoconference.com/2021-speakers/david-noton/ it says in the first paragraph that he has over 35 year of professional experience. I couldn't find a date on this website. Then I thought to just do the math, and 2024 minus 1985 is 39. "Over 24 years" and "over 35 years" are still both technically correct, but misleading.

I don't want to edit it myself because I'm not confident in my research skills. What if he took a break from professional photography? Would that break be reflected in the number of years of experience he could be said to have? Is it possible to be a professional before you actually do anything with your profession? Could he have been a professional before he started his business? Am I over thinking it? Who knows? Not me.

Anyhow, saying "he has this many years of professional experience" is troublesome because it would need to be updated every year. It might be better to say that he has decades of professional experience, or that he has this many years of professional experience as of this date, or that he started being a professional on this date.

Is there a bot to update numbers of years like this? Could a bot even reliably do that? It would need to be able to tell when a number is the difference between the current date and a past date, otherwise it may end up adding one to every number no matter what the number means. Maybe there's a way to flag numbers for this hypothetical bot to update?

Whoever reads this doesn't need to answer my questions, because I'm probably never going to visit this page again. Unless you need to answer these questions because someone else reads this and also has these questions. Hopefully I'm not being too ramble-y.

Anyways, can someone who actually knows what they're doing fix this? 'Cause I'm pretty bad at knowing what I'm doing. 72.213.95.226 (talk) 21:03, 5 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
