High rating

For the Wikiproject Libertarianism, this article must be regarded as having high importance. It is about a key player in the movement. Not just the founder of the US Libertarian Party, but creator of the Nolan chart that represents a new paradigm in positioning this political philosophy relative to others.--Libertyguy (talk) 05:05, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Agreed. The rating has also been upgraded from Stub to Start.--JayJasper (talk) 20:48, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Death

http://www.independentpoliticalreport.com/2010/11/david-nolan-lp-founder-passes-away/ says that he died on Nov. 20, yet this article and Deaths in 2010 says that he died on the 21. This reference says that the cause is unknown. The reference "Dylan Smith, David Nolan, Libertarian founder, dies at 66, TucsonSentinel.com, November 21, 2010" says "two days before his birthday" which would make it the 21. However it was published on the 21, and I think that it is unlikely to be published the same day as his death. I can find no reference for stroke, but the category "Deaths from stroke" implies stroke. How do we resolve this? Paul Studier (talk) 00:35, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

The confusion over the date may stem from the fact that he died late night 20th or the morning of the 21st. Unfortunately, this is from personal comunications that can't be used as reference for an article. No cause of death has been published, but he may have died in his sleep. I think more information will be published by reliable sources in the days ahead.--198.111.56.41 (talk) 03:01, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Details here. CarolMooreDC (talk) 03:54, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Well, probably we should not list the cause of death. It could also have been a heart attack, and maybe the crash killed him. As for date, maybe it should be November 20 or 21, 2010. Paul Studier (talk) 04:42, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Sad to hear being a Libertarian myself, rest in peace David. - BlagoCorzine2016 (talk) 05:57, 23 November 2010 (UTC)
Per this reference [1], c.o.d. was a stroke and he died on the 21st. WWGB (talk) 07:20, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

NY Times Obituary

FYI (and to get Skip to talk working). David Nolan, 66, Is Dead; Started Libertarian Party. This News Search should work for another couple weeks. CarolMooreDC (talk) 13:39, 23 November 2010 (UTC)

OK, I just added to lead but there's other material in there too. CarolMooreDC (talk) 12:36, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Picture

Thanks for fixing formatting. I wasn't paying attention. Little did David and I know when I was running around photographing people between business sessions that photo would end up on wikipedia! Hopefully a better/higher resolution one will show up at some point. I think I have one. Or could re-scan original at higher resolution. Time will tell. MarcMontoni but a better photo up in convention. How sweet of him. Thanks. CarolMooreDC (talk) 13:01, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Birth Place

The article says that Nolan was born in D.C. but the box on the right says NYC — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.119.78.234 (talk) 23:51, 6 November 2014 (UTC)

Date of birth

The first line of the article and the "Early life and education" section say that he was born on November 23, 1943. But the thing that says "Born" (under his photo) says that he was born on June 17, 1943. Which one is it? --PiratePablo (talk) 00:45, 14 January 2016 (UTC)
