Move to Chelsea edit

Some edits have been made suggesting that David Luiz has already moved to Chelsea; a check of various sources would suggest this is not yet the case? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Basalisk (talkcontribs) 10:38, 25 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Currency should remain Euros edit

We should stick to Euros as this was the currency that the deal was done in, as far as I can make out. These deals are usually not money up front, so we can't assume that by using current exchange rate we are getting the correct figure. We also can't assume that Chelsea are converting the money into Sterling. Companies often keep reserves of foreign currencies.Mattun0211 (talk) 07:36, 2 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

ESPN, Sky Sports and BBC all refer to the announcement of Benfica (via CMVM) so Euro is the sole one which could be verified. Matthew_hk tc 14:02, 11 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

David Luiz are his prenomes edit

David Luiz are his prenomes, so he should be ordered under D. Andres (talk) 07:46, 2 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

It is fun for Brazilian, Luís Fabiano is his given name but his shirt name sometimes is L.Fabiano But David Luiz known always as David Luiz on his shirt. Matthew_hk tc 14:11, 11 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
And Chelseafc.com refer him as Luiz. Matthew_hk tc 19:31, 12 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well the editors of that website are obviously just as ignorant. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.168.96.241 (talk) 22:54, 18 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Player position edit

Please stop writing he is a right-back, he is not (left or central), please respect other people's work. Javier Farinós, Paulo Sousa and others that do not come to mind now have played as goalkeepers in a given match, does that qualify?

Attentively - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 00:45, 23 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

He played right-back for Chelsea for the last 25 minutes against Fulham, which makes him capable of playing there if required. I wont bother changing again as you will just revert it, just felt that needed mentioning to you. ^_^ XTomScottx (talk) 15:28, 27 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • Please read above TOM, please. Those two midfielders played between the posts in one game, and that does not qualify, no one will go and say: "Well there go some two fine goalkeepers". Luiz played RB for 25, same reasoning my friend. - --Vasco Amaral (talk) 23:26, 5 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
yes, a usual position is at least played 1 or more seasons. Matthew_hk tc 16:05, 6 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Chelsea have confirmed a £50 million transfer with Paris Saint-Germain for David Luiz on 23/5/14 Damon Zlatan (talk) 03:50, 24 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sky Sports is reporting it: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11668/9323782/transfer-news-chelsea-and-psg-agree-terms-on-50m-transfer-of-david-luizC.Fred (talk) 03:53, 24 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
We can mention the transfer agreement, but not change his current club. Per article: "PSG have confirmed that the deal will go through on 10 June". Mosmof (talk) 05:15, 24 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Edit request edit

Please undo this edit. David Luiz has not joined PSG yet - only the agreement is in place and the deal won't be completed until the start of the transfer window. Mosmof (talk) 14:18, 26 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Was Luiz sold for £40 Million or £50 Million as this page says both at different parts could someone correct it and remove the incorrect one. Lukejordan02 (talk) 16:24, 28 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

As stated immediately above. Clubs agreed is not the same as deal done. Still player has to sign personal contract and pass a medical examination. Qed237 (talk) 23:14, 31 August 2016 (UTC)Reply

Comments on proposed section? edit

Dear all,

A user named Ross Butsy deleted this content but what do you think about this, considering that Luiz was ranked as one of the best centre backs in the world at one point by FIFA?

Lauded in his prime as one of the best defenders in the world,[1][2][3] Luiz is noted for his strong presence on the pitch as well as his specialty in taking free-kicks.[4][5][6][7]

Sincerely, Scientelensia (talk) 19:25, 26 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Scientelensia: I didn’t start this @FMSky: did. And for the record I agree with him. RossButsy (talk) 19:47, 26 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
Oh ok, why? Scientelensia (talk) 20:11, 26 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
cause he wasnt even that great, even in his prime, and that sentence makes it seem like he was some superstar. --FMSky (talk) 14:54, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
Adapt the sentence then, don’t remove it. Also I see where you are coming from but again that is an opinion. Please by all means change the wording. Thanks, Scientelensia (talk) 15:27, 6 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
