I believe that Prof Childs should be mentioned, as he was the only man, that i have come across, who successfully predicted the Fall of the Berlin Wall and hence the GDR and although rediculed in some quarters both at home and abroad, he never wavered from that stance. He has also done much for Anglo-German relations through his writing, chairing of committees, lectures and connections with officials from Germany. In addition, he is a prolific writer on both Germany and Britain, for example, The Fall of the GDR; The Stasi: East German Intelligence and Security Service; East Germany in Comparative Perspective; Britain Since 1945: A Political History to name but a few. A list of his publications will be added as well as further information about his time under surveillance by the Stasi.

I hope that you too will feel that this is of interest and merits due consideration.

the information is from some of the books i have shown plus newspaper articles i have collected over the years. if you look at the page i have put up - can you see that? - there are 2 papers mentioned there. furthermore, i have been a delegate at some of his lectures both at home and overseas. he is very highly regarded both inside and outside the world of academia. he attends many German embassy functions and is a regular visitor to Germany at the request of the German government, who recognise his contribution. That dosn't mean much. you need SOURCES, linked sources or sources ANYBODY could see, not "newspaper articles i'v collected over the years" that are no longer easy to find. Get internet sources, not old newspapers--Jakezing (talk) 21:46, 7 October 2008 (UTC)

=A little too like hagiography?

Professor Childs is clearly an able man but this page resembles hero-worship. I am confident in assuming he hasn't been writing or editing this Wikipedia page, but great chunks of the text praising him are lifted from his website at http://davidchilds.co.uk/. The professions of his children or the fact that one of his parents was briefly Mayor of Bolton are not remotely relevant to such academic contributions as may have made him notable and the page could do with wholesale editing to make it more in line with the usual style, content, and tone of articles about living academics.
