you know you're not supposed to write about yourself. ???? --Kvuo 04:17, 24 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

This isn't a vanity article-- he created geocaching, a worldwide hobby/sport.

Threatening behavior - sources?

edit

"Ulmer moved his remarks to the Groundspeak forums where his angry posts escalated into threatening bodily harm to other geocachers with the club he found in the Project APE cache." Source? That's a pretty serious charge. Pfalstad 18:27, 30 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

This comes from first hand knowledge of the original forum posts. Contact Groundspeak who should have a record of the post in their archives.

Since you're the one making the claim, I think you should back it up by finding the forum posts. Pfalstad 19:18, 30 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Works for me. I learned earlier that the original post was removed during a transfer but will contact Groundspeak to see if it can be restored.

I checked the groundspeak forums and didn't find anything like that. All I found was a post by Jeremy saying that he will not repeat what Dave said. So there's no source for the claim that Dave was threatening anyone. We can't put something like that in the article without sources. Personal knowledge isn't good enough. Redirect

edit

Per some discussion on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Oregon, this article has been changed to a redirect to geocaching. The reasons are as follows:

  • Few reliable sources appear to exist on the subject of this article--the article which was here plainly flunks verifiability, and the subject appears to not meet notability.
  • The article as it stands is poorly written and unreferenced. Were the article to be written using only reliable sources--it would become a stub.
  • Given that whatever notability the subject has is related to geocaching, a redirect was determined a better course than outright deletion.
  • If anyone objects to this course of action, feel free to revert my redirect--and then produce a well-cited article demonstrating the subject's notability per policy. Otherwise, off to WP:AFD we shall go.
