Ugly Picture

Is there a worse picture you could post of that guy? Isn't there something better out there? Eenu 07:51, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Well, I did happen to find his MySpace profile that he hasn't done anything with (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=57597954). But it includes a recent photo. Though compared to the original that was posted here, I'd say that Meltzer had a few too many if you know what I mean ;) Raderick 19:24, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Is that really his myspace? I've found several others. Though, I'm not sure why anyone would want to claim being Dave "Angry Alcoholic Because All The Promoters Think I'm Just An Overzealous Mark" Meltzer.

It seems like a picture taken by a camera on a computer monitor. I couldn't find any other Meltzer accounts on MySpace, so I could only assume that this is the real deal. --Raderick 10:01, 24 September 2006 (UTC)

He indeed looks sort of drunken and also a little bit gay. we should definitley find a more suitable picture for this great journalist.

Great journalist my ass.

Five Star Matches

Should we create an article Five star match on the various matches that have been rated five stars by Dave Meltzer? --Kitch 12:49, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

There used to be a site that had a bunch of match ratings by him. Not sure what happened to it. Anyone have it bookmarked?
Yes, we should make a List of Dave Meltzer's Five Star Matches. It's something that everyone would take interest in and practically the only place on the net with a full list. I'm all for it. User:Normy132 07:35, 18 February 2006 (UTC)
If anyone wants to comb through this http://backrake.home.att.net/ they can dig up 5 star matches by Dave. 12.34.246.37 14:05, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
This website http://www.geocities.com/mfoy18/wwfstarlist.html also has match ratings. Astronot 06:32, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

This list has 7 All Japan matches listed as 5 stars but the article says WWF has had more 5 star matches than any other promotion. I am removing the claim that WWF has had more 5 star matches than any other promotion.

I agree that there should be a page of Meltzer's five-star matches. If no one else creates one, I'll do it next time I have a free hour or two. Hack-Man 11:30, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
Just found out about the previous discussion on this topic. I won't waste my time making the page. Hack-Man 16:46, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

someone should list all of the 5 star matches. Its hard to know whos been in them. I was on Samoa Joes article and it didn't mention that his match with Kurt Angle at turning point 2006 was one. It also didn't mention the wcw wrestle war 91 WarGames match on The Brian Pillman article. I corrected them though Kelan 17:38, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

WHOA! I've just noticed that the Joe / Angle match at Turning point has been removed, AGAIN! Why do people keep doing that? The Brian Pilman WarGames Match has also been removed. STOP IT NOW Kelan 14:56, 3 January 2007 (UTC)

Joe vs. Angle II was not a 5-star match. It was a 4 1/4 star according to http://www.geocities.com/mfoy18/tnastarlist.html --Raderick 10:00, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Cena vs. K-Fed was 5 stars also (I'm serious). I don't remember what show it was on, but I think it was sometime in early January.

No it wasn't. Refer to the link I posted above. --Raderick (talk) 19:26, 6 December 2007 (UTC)

List the awards

Shouldn't there be a page listing the WON Awards through the years and their winners? It would be useful and serves a purpose equivelent of that of the 5 star page. --- Lid 04:56, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

I love that idea. I'm amazed at how you all find these pages with awards and star ratings, because I, personally, haven't been able to find any.207.38.226.34 05:46, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

WWE restricting their employees from being guests on WOL

I was the one who added the part about the WWE not allowing their wrestlers/employees on Meltzer's WOL show. I noticed somebody added a "citation needed" thing, but unfortunately for this page, I didn't retrieve this info from an online source. However, I'm a regular listener of WOL, and Dave Meltzer mentioned this fact himself. It's reaffirmed by the fact that WWE talent never actually appear on the show, but frequently do appear Live Audio Wrestling. Meltzer does have other wrestlers (from TNA, and other indy feds) as guests quite often. I know this probably won't get the "citation needed" thing removed, but hopefully the info is not deleted.

I would not be too concerned. Most people on Wikipedia tend to overlook those. OsFan 01:28, 10 January 2007 (UTC)

Wrestling Observer Live

In this section, the first paragraph mentions "Dave and Bryan hosted the show every Sunday night from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. EST on the Sports Byline Radio Network. Due to the show airing on Sunday nights, replays were played on nights there are WWE pay-per-views." But in the next paragraph, "As of September 30, 2007, Bryan Alvarez became the host of Wrestling Observer Live as Meltzer had an increase of workload covering UFC for FOX Sports and couldn't host the show full time anymore. With the change, the radio show will go on during WWE pay-per-views which it had never done before." Which is it? Anyone who knows for sure, please make the change. Is/could more information on his books be placed in the article?

The introduction has been vandalised by someone. Can this please be rectified? Poison-System-X (talk) 00:38, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Website

Apparently the observer website has ceased to be. This may just be false news, but it seems to be so. Does anyone have news on this, and if so, how should the article be changed? Dr Rgne (talk) 16:02, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

Observer and Figure 4 merge

Should more information be added as to this? The website www.wrestlingobserver.com, or whatever it was exactly, no longer exists, and redirects you to the f4w site.

"Big" Nickname?

In the ten years that I've been aware of Dave Meltzer I have never once heard him called "Big" Dave Meltzer. Can we please get a source that this is a commonly used nickname?
