The article currently includes the sentence "Loebsack was known to inform his non-liberal students that he would deduct points from their papers should they express views contrary to his well-known socialist stances." This accusation sounds inflammatory and dubious at best. As there is no source material referenced to support this argument, I think it should be removed. -- User:RyanGWU82

Iran Election House of Representatives Resolution of July 19, 2009

How very courageous of the House member to vote Present on the US House of Representatives Resolution expressing "support for all Iranian citizens who struggle for freedom, human rights, civil liberties, and the protection of the rule of law". It otherwise passed on an overwhelmingly bipartisan basis with a 405 to 1 vote. --Francis Burdett (talk) 20:14, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

This article reads like a campaign flyer. It doesn't point out things like Loebsack voting FOR the Wall Street bailout in 2008, then in the 2010 re-election campaign running AGAINST "bailouts for Wall Street". Please someone who can do so -- add some balance. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.51.185.47 (talk) 15:14, 23 October 2010 (UTC)

I've added the bias tag. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about Loebsack to improve the article, but the "Political positions" section does read like a campaign flier. Perhaps the best solution would be to remove it until someone can re-write it in a neutral fashion? --Philosopher Let us reason together. 05:29, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Agreed, Philosopher. The entire political section seems in violation of neutrality standards. I bit the bullet and removed it while I was adding election results boxes. If someone wants to rewrite with info on his actual voting record on issues, non-biased, that seems like it would fit better IMHO Sector001 (talk) 23:54, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
Hey, I'm a high school student in AP US Government and we were given an assignment to write three paragraphs updating a Wikipedia article concerning a member of the House of Representatives. I noticed the need for an objective section concerning Loebsack's actual voting record, and added one. I hope I remained objective, but I suppose that is for you to judge. — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheOnlyOfo (talkcontribs) 00:17, 20 November 2012 (UTC)

Iceland/Music Background

I have added materials on the Congressman's musical background and connections to Iceland. Please do not revert without explaining 212.29.229.228 (talk) 23:22, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

@212.29.229.228: I can't speak for anyone else, but I think those are quite nice facts to personalize the article some. On a related note, though, how did you access that 1972 Iowa State Daily? – Philosopher Let us reason together. 00:39, 19 December 2014 (UTC)

Out of Date

The voting record and interest group rating section of the article are more than ten years out of date. This representative served until 2020, but the voting record and issue ratings are from 2009 to 2011 era. They are therefore not likely to be an accurate or comprehensive reflection of the representative’s time in office. I would suggest this section be removed or better yet updated to make current. Interested parties are encouraged to make the necessary revisions and additions to make the article current. Go4thProsper (talk) 17:57, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
