AfC edit

I fail to see how/why this passed the WP:AFC process (and received a C-class rating?!), considering the bulk of the content is unreferenced. This also leads one to consider possible notability and/or spam issues. --Kinu t/c 17:24, 18 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Kinu. Thank you for reviewing my article. This is my first attempt at researching a company, so I apologize for the initial lack of references. I spent the better part of yesterday fixing that, with the aim to address each concern that was raised by you and other editors, so that my article would fall within the guidelines of Wikipedia. My research will hopefully help people know what Data Management, Inc. is and what they do. I was inspired by the Microsoft and Google wikis and while my article is nothing by comparison, it hopefully will be at least one step in that direction. As far as sources, I provided at least 12 more sources – 9 of which were publications that wrote articles on Data Management, Inc. (DMI), 1 of which was DMI’s website, and 2 being interviews conducted with two DMI vice presidents. This was a very exciting opportunity. I felt like a journalist and, in the end, my original interest in writing was heightened by the experience.

As to the notability of Data Management, Inc., while tracking down more information and sources, I confirmed that there has been "significant coverage in reliable, independent secondary sources" - in particular (among the 9 cited publications) some major ones including, but not limited to, the New York Times and Miami Herald. I found even more publications than what I cited, less notable than New York Times, but still notable, covering Data Management Inc. In addition to coverage by several publications, Data Management's growth over the last 20 years has been considerable.

Their expansion into the web, their recent OnDemand service (digital distribution of the Web solution), and their telephony and smart phone advances, have turned what began as a simple DOS application provider into something much more vast.

Where they began in 1988 and where they are now is what inspired me to tell their story.

I hope that my article can receive a better rating and if there is any thing else that you see that is lacking, please let me know, so I can improve on it even more.

Thank you for your direction, sir. --Dmarkwilliams (talk) 15:16, 21 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
