Correct Spelling of Hei's Chinese Student Name

I believe it should be Li Shunsheng instead of Li Shengshun, which most anime blogs have out there, because that's the correct Mandarin pinyin of 李舜生. The confusion stems from the given Katakana pronunciation of the name, リ・シェンシュン, which is Ri Shenshun. -Atashi 16:03, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

Formatting

Firstly, the manual of style dictates that the first letter of the proceeding word within a section title be capitalized, but this refers to section titles, not to actual content within a section. Secondly, I do not feel that staff, episodes, theme songs, etc. need be categorized into one section, as they are quite different. And lastly, in regards to the characters section, there is nothing wrong with the current formatting, as there is currently one version of the series, so I feel that the {{Anime voices}} is unnecessary here and that it takes an additional, unnecessary paragraph. I also do not think that terms such as hell's gate, etc. need be italicized as they are concepts, not actual works, but as they of importance to the series, they can be bolded instead. ···巌流^{? · Talk to Ganryuu} 08:24, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

Fair enough about the section heading conflict for Staff, but there's some major things your disregarding. Such as the use of the {{anime voices}} template for the characters' voice actors which is the stanard format for giving such information. Furthermore, in the Story section, you do not explain who Hei is; you need to say he's the protagonist to give the section a bit more context into who this character means to the series as a whole. Not only that, but the spacing in the Termonology section has to be given to make it more readable when editing the section. Same applies to characters section. As for Theme songs, the songs do not need to be bolded and it's more standard to just place the song titles in quotations. Finally, we can combine Staff, Theme songs and Episodes into a Production section since they all apply to the production of the anime in some way; there's no need to keep them all in separate sections and it looks better with them merged into one larger section.--十八 08:23, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

As I stated earlier, the {{anime voices}} template is unnecessary here, as there is only one actual version of the series so far and it takes an additional unnecessary paragraph, so I think as this had already been an established part of this article, it is much better to use the current formatting. I also feel that staff, theme songs and list of episodes are quite different from each other, and each detail a different part of the series, so categorizing them within one section is also rather unnecessary here. In regards to the plot section, Hei being featured as the series's protagonist is already detailed in the character's section, so specifically pointing that out is also quite unnecessary. The fact is that those broadcast stations were completely unnecessary and are rarely seen in anime articles. The episode lists carries the inforamtion about when the episodes first aired, so the information on when the episodes aired on other stations should stay in that article.--十八 09:30, 14 April 2007 (UTC)

The list of broadcast stations was translated from the Japanese wiki article as part of a wider translation project for the entire article at the time when the article was created, as seen during many such Japan-related translation projects. They are indeed necessary, as they detail the exact details of how the series premiered and the details of its airing across its numerous television stations as well as the details of its current timeslot, via which it replaced Code Geass (before the series aired, there were some concerns regarding the series's exact premiere date, due to the last two episodes of Code Geass having been postponed). I've already started a similar discussion with you on the Code Geass page about this subject, but I agree with Juhachi. The broadcast list is superfluous and irrelevant distribution info that has very little to do with production. The fact that it appears on the Japanese wiki is by itself not reason enough for its inclusion in the English wiki, no matter how good or accurate the translation is. Broadcast information is definitely notable and meets each of the notability criteria as it relates to how the series was aired across its respective television networks. Misaki Kirihara

Character Count

The series seems more based around individual stories and tieing them in with the main story after. So rather than just adding anyone, can we wait and see who the recurring characters are going to be before adding them to the characters section of the wiki. ~aaycumi,04/05/07

Yin a doll?

Also, are you sure that Yin is a doll? I don't think so... seems more like a contractor to me. A doll is a passive medium who is inputted with someone elses memories using the ME. Yin is a character, a part of Hei's team who uses her contractor powers to scout and gather information.

The Syndicate

Is this the real name of the mentioned Organization? I found the Japanese context to refer to it as a 'type' of organization but have yet to see them have an actual title. Does anyone know the real title of the syndicate? The Syndicate subtitle/definition was originally under the definitions section but I figured it'd be easier to move it up and under the section itself since the MI-6 section has a definition of who they are as well without actually getting to the bottom first. Hei's renumeration

Someone placed a sentence saying that his renumeration is flipping through a blank book. I removed this because there hasn't been anything thus far to suggest that, if anything its been suggested he doesn't have a renumeration. If you can cite a source then feel free to put it back. Just to note, the japanese version of the page lists that his renumeration is unknown or nonexistent as well.

• Episode 2 shows Hei clearly flipping through a blank book before using his ability. Thus, even though his renumeration has not been offically declared, why else would he perfom such an act? It might turn out that this assumption is incorrect, but it is still worth mentioning in the article.   • To be honest, I thought he was looking for his mask. Hiding things within books is not unheard of, and often used by intelligence agencies. But this isn't why I'm commenting here. It's about Hei's profile in general - wikipedia is not a forum for speculation, so everybody needs to stop putting in things like 'well, we thought his remuneration was his diet' and 'it might be that one book he had in episode 2'. • Someone put speculation back in again. I'm removing it again... ESPECIALLY those of you who haven't seen all the episodes to date, don't add speculation. Speculate on some blog or something, not on wikipedia. Someone continually adds speculation on food -- this has been throughly debunked, watch all of the episodes throughly and you'll see. I believe in the second episode with Havoc (Ep 6 I believe) it is said that Hei ate the same way prior to becoming a contractor (hence its not his renumeration). The speculation on Hei's renumeration being emotion, while possible there isn't anything to back it up at the moment.
  • What Havoc said about Hei's eating habits, according to the subbed version I have (Shinsen-Subs) is "You've still got quite an appetite, I see." The proof you're thinking of is probably at the beginning, where Havoc says, while talking to Hei, "Though you were party to no contract, you were the most brutal of us all." And, slightly later, while talking about how Hei is not like normal contractors, "You don't seem to have an obeisance either." Of course, according to this, Hei is not a contractor. Page Split

• This article has finally gotten out of the realm of series content to looking more like a character page. So, I think it's time for the characters section to be reconstituted in it's own article. This one got out of hand almost as soon as the Evening Primrose was introduced, and even before that, we were just listing contractors and describing them. I'm hoping this will be designated GA as soon as we find enough sources to meet the literary reference requirement. I think this article can look a lot better in a short amount of time just by creating List of Darker than Black characters (and of course, moderating it's contents). -Biokinetica 21:03, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Yin is Finnish?

Is there a reason to assume Yin and Kastinen are Finnish? I was kind of assuming they were Russian, due to the pronunciation of the name Kastinen, and Kurosawa's comment that Kastinen had come from "up North" (pretty sure that's what he said). --RainyFrog 11:42, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
