Move

edit

I guess this page should be moved to Dark Knight (nickname) (see Joker (comics). Randomuser112 (talk) 09:52, 5 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Looks like Joker (comics) is not at The Joker because of WP:THE, a guideline I have not really applied before. Seems fine to make the move. You wanna do it? :) Erik (talk | contribs) 11:32, 5 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Not sure about it. Let's wait for others. Randomuser112 (talk) 18:02, 5 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
The Joker isn't the best example. Although we generally call him the Joker, characters address him as Joker while speaking to him and some refer to him as Joker otherwise. Back in Adam West's TV series, they left "the" out more often than they included it. To this day, Adam still says it without "the" more often than he says it with. (And that's pretty much all I should say. Declaration of COI: The article cites my book.) Doczilla @SUPERHEROLOGIST 01:06, 6 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

I moved the page to Dark Knight (nickname) per WP:THE. Randomuser112 (talk) 05:19, 6 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Notability

edit

Is this article really necessary? Seems to me that this information, while notable, does not warrant its own article. The information here could easily be merged into the Batman article, with a link on the disambiguation page Dark Knight (which really needs to be reorganized as well). Fortdj33 (talk) 13:52, 5 July 2013 (UTC)Reply

Another possibility, is that this article should be moved to Dark Knight as the primary topic, and the disambiguation page moved to Dark Knight (disambiguation). Fortdj33 (talk) 14:56, 5 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yet another possibility is WP:SETINDEX since we have multiple topics with "The Dark Knight" in the name. This article can provide context and list together all the related topics. Erik (talk | contribs) 20:30, 5 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
I don't think that a set index is necessary. The disambiguation page already performs that function adequately. My question is whether the nickname information is notable enough to be the primary topic, or if it should just be merged into another article. Fortdj33 (talk) 14:44, 6 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
The set index is different because technically, the disambiguation page should not list articles that only use "Dark Knight" as part of the full title. The set index would be able to list these articles. I do not think there is much more coverage about the nickname anyway. I would not mind making this the primary topic (as well as a set index) because it is a way to show that the 2008 film is not a novel use of the term. There is an enduring history of the use of the nickname. Erik (talk | contribs) 15:34, 6 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
You don't understand what's happening here. Is anyone saying that "The Dark Knight (film)" should be moved to "The Dark Knight", and then "Dark Knight" should redirect to the film page? The title of the film is "The Dark Knight", not "Dark Knight" and therefore it does not conflict with the rest of the pages. Randomuser112 (talk) 18:19, 6 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
"You don't understand what's happening here." I ask you to use a more cordial tone. All I will say here is that it is why I endorsed relisting the RM discussion, so we can see what editors think about what role the nickname article can play, if any.
