Merge/integrate into Qarawiyyin main page?

edit

This topic is really just a sub-topic of the Qarawiyyin Mosque; it's just one room or small structure inside the mosque. There is now a full enough architectural description of the mosque on that page to have a section devoted to this topic (and given the size of this page currently, it wouldn't disrupt the proportions of the sections or anything).
Plus, it turns out that the nearby Borj Neffara ("tower of the trumpeters"; page currently being created) is also known, and officially identified as, the Dar al-Muwaqqit (the term is in fact used by any structure devoted to the timekeeper of a mosque or mosques). So there may be potential confusion about this, and this page could instead be turned into a disambiguation page redirecting people to Borj Neffara, Qarawiyyin, etc.
This isn't urgent, so I'd like to have some input from other editors before taking any actions on this. Cheers, Robert Prazeres (talk) 18:31, 10 January 2020 (UTC)Reply

Shifting topic of page to type of structure rather than one specific structure

edit

After writing quite a few articles about Moroccan mosques, it seems that the Dar al-Muwaqqit is a common feature of Moroccan mosques, at least from the Marinid period and after. I propose to make the topic of the page more generic and about the dar al-muwaqqit as a type of structure rather than as a specific one at the Qarawiyyin. I haven't seen any feedback yet above so I assume people may not be watching this page much or don't have strong opinions about it, so I'll go ahead progressively making this shift, and will be able to link to this page from more pages in the future. The changes have been made. Note that I haven't come across mention of a dedicated "Dar al-Muwaqqit" structure in mosques outside Morocco, but there's no clear reason why they shouldn't exist, so I encourage anyone else to find information on this if they can.Robert Prazeres (talk) 06:27, 23 June 2020 (UTC)Reply
