Proposed merger

1. This article overlaps considerably with the proposed target.
2. There is a longstanding consenus that we do not retain article on losing politicians in this encyclopaedia.

• Agree with merge. I don't think independent articles for losing candidates is an appropriate precedent to set. Espresso Addict (talk) 09:29, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

• I'm happy with the merger. The subject clearly has sufficient sources to verify notability and, therefore, does not qualify for deletion (is that's what is meant by "we do not retain"?). However, as the "party" has an article, WP:POLITICIAN suggests a merge to The People's Manifesto would be best. matt (talk) 14:47, 19 May 2010 (UTC)

• I disagree with the merger as the subject is primarily an independent Journalist – Standing as the People's Manifesto candidate in the 2010 general election was a relatively small matter by comparison. Perhaps instead, the article should be moved into the Category:English_journalists Greg (talk) 13:49, 27 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi, I am Danny Kushlick. I am not primarily a journalist, I'm a campaigner for drug law reform. Standing for the People's Manifesto was indeed a very short lived affair and, despite the fact that I have written a lot for the press and taken part in numerous broadcasts, I am not a journalist. I would prefer, if my entry could remain as an individual, but if any merging does take place, it should be with the Wiki entry for Transform Drug Policy Foundation, not the People's Manifesto. Altered target

Based on the above I have recast the merge propsal. However I am now quite neutral on this matter and would be happy if we were to retain Mr Kushlick's entry but alter its emphasis to describe him as an activist rather than a politician. S a g a C i t y (talk) 12:25, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
