It might have been descended from Maronite Christians from Lebanon but his Medina family has been living in the country for close to two centuries. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.6.227.45 (talk) 01:40, 13 January 2014 (UTC)
It's rather an Arabic word inherited through Spaniards, as they adopted it during the Arab rule in the Iberian Peninsula. Medina is a common Hispanic last name.
