In the previous submission I did not make it clear that Professor Weitzner is a Professor at MIT -- I was using the criterion for an academic in the rules on notability. I think you will see as edited it makes it clear he is a professor, works at MIT, has published in academic venues, but has also served in a high US government post, been an important privacy advocate, and is linked to a number of academic activities that have wikipedia pages. Weitzner is one of the most influential professors in his area, internet policy, and thus I argue clearly deserves a page by the rules of wikipedia.

Information added in resubmission on 4/8/15 I have added external references to articles about Professor Weitzner and/or his work from the New York Times and several other publications. I've also added some links to things he has written including a Washington Post editorial and an entry on the White House Blog - which add validity to the impact of his work. There are many more possibilities - for example a search today on Google News for "danny Weitzner" [1] finds more than 40 recent articles that mention him. many of these are about the major items I mention in the draft article, where I have put key references -- I just include this link to show that he has not only historic impact in his White House work, but continues to influence in his MIT role -- so I expect this article will grow over time as his impact grows. I also didn't include "book end" type things, for example I cite a source when he entered the White House, but don't include [2] from when he left - that didn't seem to be the practice on other pages - but I certainly could add more if needed.

Thanks for reconsidering this, if this is still considered inadequate, I'd appreciate more specific feedback as I've cited his major publications (Science, CACM, etc.), his major pieces of publicly seen legislative contribution, and pieces about his founding role in Web Science and his new center at MIT. I have not included pieces that might be controversial and are not well-defended (for example, it is widely assumed that Danny wrote the President's response to the SOPA bill [3] which is seen to have killed it, but the publication came out in the name of his boss, so it is just rumor) I also didn't include things that I know of from personal knowledge but cannot provide external citations for (for example, Danny and I were friends with Aaron Swartz and thus I know Danny mentored him in his late teen years), but I provide these in this background in case either more of this should be included, or at least so this submission page will have that information if anyone is seeking it.
