"Taliban Dan"

We need to mention his nickname "Taliban Dan" Webster. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.215.86.250 (talk) 02:21, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

I'm fairly certain that would run afoul of non-point of view guidelines. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 02:29, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
Definitely, but we should mention how Alan Grayson called him that in a commercial, and how Alan Grayson took Webster completely out of context, saying that he supported abuse of women, when he in fact said the opposite.24.5.155.168 (talk) 08:52, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
I think that now that there are reliable sources covering it willy-nilly, it could be written about it objectively; I'll work on it, just probably not this weekend. I wrote the above comment before that commercial became national news. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 13:54, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

DOB repetition

Re: Scalper's ES comment don't know why his date of birth was removed; if it is in the lead, it MUST be in the body, and bio FAs include the date of birth in the article body [2] --I removed it b/c I didn't see the need to repeat his DOB 3 times w/in a few lines, all on one screen - 1.lead 2. info box 3. early life section. Roughly speaking, per WP:MOS BIO first line has to have name and DOB, per WP:Lead, lead contains summary of important points - this does not mandate a 3rd repetition of the DOB imo, and it seems that many recent bios are leaving this off. However, I don't really have a problem with having it repeated, just thought I'd tell you my reasoning. As for FA - I don't think so, you could be right, but the article is SO far away from that I think whether the DOB is repeated 3 times or not at this time is irrelevant. In the meantime, it would be my preference that the reader not have to suffer the repetition or be dissuaded by it, but as I said, I'll defer to your obviously strong feelings. -Best regards- KeptSouth (talk) 21:54, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Foot problems

I added a short phrase about this -- normally, it would be insignificant, but in view of Grayson's recent attack ads re. Webster's deferments, I think it's worth noting. [3] - KeptSouth (talk) 04:15, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

RE: Daniel Webster (Florida politician) archived cite

Thanks, Scalper for finding the archive of the 2008 profile. As you know, the citation I removed [4] was to the current article collection on Webster and it had absolutely no profile or article referencing Webster's bid to become President of the Florida Senate.[5] By the way, I am wondering how you found the archive? -Best regards- KeptSouth (talk) 10:25, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

You're welcome; all I did to find it was copy the current url and paste it into the Wayback Machine to find a copy of it before the Sentinel removed the information. But thank YOU for putting so much considerable effort into improving the article! かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 17:07, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Foreign Aid

I added the below to the article stating the Congressman's poisition on foreign aid:

During an interview on Good Life 45 Webster stated that foriegn aid needs to be given to Isreal in order to not to "lose God’s hand". He also stated that he would like to see less foriegn aid elsewhere. [1]

It was removed on the grounds that foreign aid is not a political position, which I found unbelievible. Foreign aid and where it goes has always been a central to a politician's position on foreign policy. It was also removed stating that the reference is not reliable. Current TV is a Peabody and Emmy Award-winning news organization. It doesn't get any more creditable then that. Pinkkeith (talk) 16:23, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

I have to say that the rationale given for its removal does not seem accurate. It is a policy position relating to foreign affairs from an interview he did. At the very least, it should be discussed on the talk page before one user decides he does not like the content. かんぱい! Scapler (talk) 16:33, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
