Removed for now: this should go on the page for Silverchair rather than Johns:

The band's career began when they signed to Sony Records in 1994, after their demo won the local heat of Triple J's "Unearthed" talent search. Their first album release was Frogstomp, in 1995. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Robert Merkel (talk) 02:03, 19 February 2003 (UTC)

"Disease"

I was under the impression that Johns suffered from anorexia but found no mention of it in this article. There is a large paragraph that praises Johns for valiantly admitting to and fighting with "his disease" with no mention whatsoever of the condition. --M Lyon 03:17, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Edit: I note that the anorexia-nervosa is mentioned briefly in the "trivia" section and would recommend that it instead be integrated into the body of the biography. --M Lyon 03:17, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

did the artist write this self- serving bio himself?

this bio reads like it was written by the artists own record company. it isnt at all critical. says nothing bad about the artist except to mention his health struggles.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.137.107.171 (talk) 10:31, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Is there anything bad to say?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.231.240.80 (talk) 08:13, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

• Is there anything bad to say about him? I'm sure he has some negative traits (we all do) but I don't think I've heard or read a bad thing about him in the media—Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.49.214.177 (talk) 13:44, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Apart from the fact that your comments are unsigned I have this observation, which applies to the majority of net users: you are too disinclined to look it up yourselves! You used to look to journalists like me to do the job for you but now you hope that you can find out everything relevant in one click. It still doesn't work that way and perhaps never will. Researching specific information is still a time-consuming, labour-intensive job. And I can say that - having checked (had to take a break from a far more sordid story) I haven't found anything negative about this man. There can be numerous reasons: not everything is indexed and searchable on the net, net searches favour most recent postings, or possibly there is nothing negative to report; note that (except for the last) these factors apply to any article you are looking for. Perhaps someone from wiki will take these comments and put them where more people can see them. --Freiherrin (talk) 18:14, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Vegan or Vegetarian?

It says he use to be a vegan but isn't he still a vegan? --Migospia 07:48, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

He is not a vegan anymore he stated in the OFFICAL silverchair bio "a new tomorrow" that he now, on doctors orders, eats some animal based foods like Eggs.

in the part were it talks about his anorexia and him only weighing 110lbs its says daniel johns is 6ft 2, this is incorrect daniel johns is 5ft 10 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.44.58.68 (talk) 19:12, 30 May 2010 (UTC)

recent gay rumours

Should this be added, I only just read about it.... i have no idea how to use wiki though. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.216.38.64 (talk) 04:37, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

Let's see: how is it relevant whether someone is gay or anything else? I could see it as news years ago, if someone either was allegedly gay, or had stepped out of the closet. But this is, after all, 2008, at least it was, last time I checked. --Freiherrin (talk) 18:07, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

It's not relevant to his career or his reasons for notability; however, as more than one source referred to these rumours when his marriage broke up I'm surprised to see no mention of it at all. 206.165.150.70 (talk) 16:48, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

When there's evidence that his marriage ended because he admitted to his wife that he is gay, you could add that he's gay. Until then, baseless rumours and unfounded accusations should remain the fare of tabloid dirt spinners. 110.174.91.113 (talk) 15:54, 19 August 2010 (UTC)

Johns has admitted he is a homosexual, and that it was the main issue behind ending his marriage with Natalie Imbruglia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.183.142.195 (talk) 15:09, 30 July 2011 (UTC)

Reactive arthritis

The following statement regarding his reactive arthritis (under Personal Life) is in question: "He has had no remission of the arthritic symtoms(sic)."

There seems to be some support for the statement that he had been ill for about 18 months (more than a year, less than two) with the disease and thereafter have been in remission (still ongoing).

Some support (although not solid, direct support): http://www.chairpage.com/press_releases/item/249/ This mentions him being "healthy now" http://www.chairpage.com/press_releases/item/245/ This talks about him being healthy, down by the second (broken) picture

Would appreciate someone with more solid evidence to update/modify the statement, or concurrence on its removal in the absence of supporting material for it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ksivani (talkcontribs) 18:42, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

Birth date

Although the most recent edit looks like a sneaky vandal, I double-checked it; and we have indeed had the wrong year .. ever since the first version of the article was created. (some google searches showed 1978, but these were wikipedia derivatives.) --Chuq (talk) 03:55, 26 July 2004 (UTC)

Unearthed

Silverchair were not discovered by the Unearthed competition. This is a common fallacy. The competition they won was 'Pick Me', part of the Nomad program on SBS. The main prize in the competition was a professionally filmed video clip. Silverchair won, and the Tomorrow clip was the result. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rogerexplosion (talk) 09:01, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

Is Daniel Johns a war veteran or first responder? It is unusual he is claiming to have PTSD.. 159.196.12.143 (talk) 12:00, 11 April 2022 (UTC)

You clearly know nothing about mental illness.
"Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental and behavioral disorder that can develop because of exposure to a traumatic event, such as sexual assault, warfare, traffic collisions, child abuse, domestic violence, or other threats on a person's life." Zoolver (talk) 16:40, 11 April 2022 (UTC)

Are you suggesting he was a victim of domestic abuse? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 159.196.12.143 (talk) 09:48, 15 April 2022 (UTC)

Dude, stop trolling! This is not a forum for speculation. We just use reliable sources in the article, not guesses nor suggestions. "This is not a forum for general discussion of the article's subject" is written at the top of this talk page. Zoolver (talk) 21:52, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
