Not Notable?
editIn a friendly spirit, I disagree with the notability tag. I have read the guidelines and believe this article qualifies under several criteria. If there is some specific question, I would like to hear it. Tmangray (talk) 18:47, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- Subject fails WP:N. Pretty simple really. Hundreds of architects around at the same time have no articles here (some do). Just a man doing his job. Nothing what I'd call notable in his life. Did anything get named after him? Do the references like the "newsletter" of the Berkeley Architectural Heritage Association (another non-notable subject) have isbn numbers? Can these references be accessed for WP:V purposes? I'll tell you what! How about inline citations on a few paragraphs to show which little bulletins and newsletters are being specifically referred to? If you did that the article would look something like it is trying to show notability for the subject. So he designed a few stations! Wow he must be so terribly notable! In fact so famous there must be oodles of biographies done on him you could reference. Not just railroad newsletters mind you. There must be plenty of info to ensure the topic has received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject. Then it is presumed to satisfy the inclusion criteria for a stand-alone article. What are the "several criteria" you see the article qualifying under?--Sting Buzz Me... 23:03, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- You should look at the other articles on various architects, many of whom are less notable. Not to mention the tens of thousands of Wiki articles on trivia such as video games, obscure recording artists and so on. This guy was the principal architect of one of the biggest railroads in the US. A number of his structures are registered landmarks. I respectfully ask you to reconsider. Thanks. - Other articles are irrelevant. You will learn that if you hang around wikipedia long enough. What you will also learn is it doesn't matter Jack what YOU say about a persons notability. What matters is proving it! Inline citations are the way to go. I have removed the notability tag as I now feel notability has been established. This article still needs work though. Must be a picture of this famous architect around somewhere? If you take a look at some of the best bio articles on wikipedia you will notice just about every paragraph is referenced inline citation method, and the articles are full of pictures. Notable people tend to have photographs taken of them. So I suggest you look for one for the article. Happy editing.--Sting Buzz Me... 11:02, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
