Per WP:COMMONNAME, I propose to move this article to Dan Evans (tennis), which is currently a redirect. This would revert a page move made without discussion in 2013, where Dencod16 decided it was better to use the ATP's version of Evans' name than that used fairly uniformly by other reliable sources - and the subject himself.

To get a flavour of what I'm talking about, cast your eye down the 120 references currently in the article. Many of them include Evans' first name. Only one *the mighty Knoxville News Sentinel) calls him "Daniel" --Dweller (talk) Become old fashioned! 10:42, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

I agree with the move. It's quite clear that the player himself prefers Dan. See here from The Guardian: "Ever the master of the understatement, is our Dan – not Daniel, he reminded us this week, as some local media insist on calling him." [2]--Pawnkingthree (talk) 17:22, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

I really don't buy the "official ATP record" argument. The ATP are quite clearly wrong. The player himself says he is "Dan", and most sources say "Dan." PER WP:COMMONNAME, it should be moved back.--Pawnkingthree (talk) 14:06, 19 January 2017 (UTC)

Evans uses Dan EVans on his twitter account ....... Independent - "After turning his career around, Dan Evans insists he's here to stay - no matter what it takes" .......Tennis.com uses Daniel Evans......NZ Herald - "Tennis: Dan Evans claims biggest win of his career in a $20 shirt after being dropped by Nike" ...... Express - "Dan Evans secures career-best win at Apia international as Jo Konta progresses to final..." ....... The Sun - "Who is Dan Evans? British No.3 tennis pro and rising global star – here’s what we know" ..... Sporting News - "The 27th seed will face Daniel Evans in the third round after the colourful Brit pulled off a major upset of Marin Cilic, 3-6 7-5 6-3 6-3." ..... Mail online - "Dan Evans claims biggest victory of his career against Aussie Open No 7 seed Marin Cilic... and he did it in a £13 t-shirt after being dropped by Nike" ...... Metro - "Final agony for Dan Evans and Jamie Murray as they fall at the last hurdle in Sydney" I could post many more but in summary, almost all newspapers and sports commentators use DAN whereas the formal tennis associations use DANIEL. Andy Murray referring to him as DAN. It is no recent change as there is a Hindustan Times entry from 2011 using DAN - "Argentina substitute Leonardo Mayer ended Britain’s reign as Davis Cup champions with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 win over Dan Evans in the fifth rubber". ........ Personally I think it will change to DAN within a year anyway as that is the name everyone is using (apart from the official tennis associations), so why not change now.Ânes-pur-sàng (talk) 15:35, 19 January 2017 (UTC)

Editing in tournament results before the tournament ends

It's generally a bad practice to edit in results from a tournament that the subject of the article is still competing in. Why has that been done in this article? Rmehtany (talk) 15:58, 15 April 2021 (UTC)
