River or town?= edit

I think it would make sense to split this article into one about the settlement and a separate article about the river. As this article is expanded it will be less confusing that way! Dfadden (talk) 12:49, 25 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

polical environment edit

I came to the page looking to find what was the political environment; specially, I wanted to know if the country (or province, I am not well informed on the subject of Australia) used daylight savings.66.185.77.71 (talk) 20:50, 1 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

In Australia that is determined by each state or territory. Clicking on the link to Northern Territory in the lead shows in infobox with time zone information of UTC+9:30 (does not observe Daylight Saving Time). I hope that helps. - Shiftchange (talk) 23:03, 1 March 2013 (UTC)Reply

Unanimous consent after a week. I am working on the split. --Scott Davis Talk 12:52, 29 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

It looks like nobody has formally made a split proposal before, so here it is. Dfadden proposed the split in 2012 above, with no response.

Rationale: A town and a river have quite distinct geographic extents and scale. Wikidata, Commons, French and German Wikipedias have separate articles for the town Daly River (Q17932) (naming convention says Daly River, Northern Territory) and the river (Daly River (Q13359982), naming convention says Daly River (Northern Territory)). --Scott Davis Talk 11:18, 21 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
