The page that is linked to in the end of the article, clearly says that Dafne's first performance was in 1597 in Florence. Why is it 1597 or 1598 in the article?217.159.146.245 17:24, 22 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I assume because other sources say differently. The page was removed as it was spammy and not very useful. Lethe 15:09, 7 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Comments from WikiProject Opera:

Stub-class. Improvements needed:

  • More background info
  • More performance history (if any)
  • A detailed synopsis from surviving libretto
  • A list of roles (should still be available since the libreto survived)

Note: Musical analysis, recent performances, and recordings are not as essential for this opera since the score did not survive. A modified scale might be appropriate for this article.

Triple flute edit

An editor questions whether "triple flute" is a mistake for "treble flute". I see no reason to doubt that "Dafne" was scored for a true triple flute: the instrument with three tubes, (see the description of multiple flutes) but I have no knowledge of musical instruments of c. 1600 Italy. Can someone clear up this minor issue? TomS TDotO (talk) 07:43, 8 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

No source for 'treble', though 'triple' is even more dubious (some non-Italian Double flutes exist). Otten 1911 seems on shaky enough ground saying "harpsichord, a lute, a viol, an archlute", a typical enough continuo group, but not one specified in surviving scores nor in NG, nor the rest of the cited literature.
