This should merge with Daddy longlegs

edit

This article (Daddy Long Legs) should merge with Daddy longlegs. "Daddy Long Legs" and "Daddy longlegs" are just alternate spellings, and I see no reason why one should disambiguate the arthropods, and the other should disambiguate the other uses of the phrase. • What article? It's a disambiguation page. There are a number of films and a novel entitled Daddy Long Legs, not just two arthropods. In case you didnt see it on the page:

Daddy Long Legs (film), a 1955 musical film by 20th Century Fox, based on the novel by Jean Webster. Daddy Long Legs (musician), the lead singer of the rap metal group Wolfpac, also one of the original lineup of The Bloodhound Gang. Daddy-Long-Legs (novel), a children's novel written in 1912 by Jean Webster Daddy Long Legs (train), a name for a car that once ran on a former railway in Brighton. Daddy Long-legs, a 2005 Korean film. Daddy-Long-Legs, a 1919 Marshall Neilan silent film starring Mary Pickford. Daddy Long Legs (1931 film), a 1931 musical film based on the novel by Jean Webster.

I don't see the relevance in moving those entries to Daddy Longlegs as they are not titled that way. MegX 01:05, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, what I meant is not two articles, but two disambiguation pages: Daddy Long Legs and Daddy longlegs. Since these are just alternative spellings, I think these should merge into one disambiguation page. Rocksong 01:24, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Okay, so what is going to be the name of this proposed page? MegX 01:32, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
It doesn't really matter, but since Daddy longlegs has the longer history, that should be the merged (diambiguation) page. Daddy Long Legs then becomes a redirect to Daddy longlegs. The point is that whether a user types "Daddy Long Legs" or "Daddy longlegs" or "Daddy long legs" or "Daddy-long-legs" (or anything similar), they should always end up at the one disambiguation page. p.s. the pages for the 2005 and 1919 films should be renamed to "Daddy Long-legs (2005 film)" and "Daddy Long-Legs (1919 film)" respectively. That's my view on what should happen, anyway. Rocksong 01:41, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Do you also propose naming the musican Daddy Long-Legs as well? Sure, if the spider and arthropods could be named either way (Daddy Longlegs or Daddy Long Legs) I dont think there is a problem, I think however renaming the films would make them inaccurate, as the titles are clearly spelled Daddy Long Legs. The musician's page needs no change, because his page already "(musician)" in the title. (Assuming it already has the exact correct spelling of his name). For the movies, I propose keeping their exact names and spellings, but adding "(2005 film)" and "(1919 film)" respectively. Rocksong 02:18, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well, I don't have anything more to add. I'm not going to oppose the move, but I guess I don't fervently support it either (I don't see anything wrong with the current situation remaining). It's up to you. MegX 04:32, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
OK, I've done it. I don't think it was too controversial. Rocksong 04:58, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
