D8/D3 intersection
editThe intersection is referenced in this source (referenced in the article as source #2) where the D3 state road is defined as "G. P. Goričan (gr. R. Mađarske) /translated: Goričan border crossing (border of Republic of Hungary)/ – Čakovec – Varaždin – Breznički Hum – Zagreb – Karlovac – Rijeka (D8)" - where the last reference point of the route specifically indicates a junction with the D8 in Rijeka.--Tomobe03 (talk) 12:08, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
- The difficulty is that "A6 motorway" links to the A7 motorway; which is it? I don't think it's both... Allens (talk | contribs) 12:29, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
- Yes they do. A6 and A7 link in Orehovica interchange and D3 runs parallel to the A6, forms several junctions to that motorway, passes below the A7 (no junction) and enters Rijeka, where it terminates at the D8 (virtually at the coast). A more detailed GIS-data map is available at this link (county level road authority) - Unfortunately there's no way to link zoomed map, but try zooming at the northernmost part of the bay (that's where Rijeka is) until names on the map are readable, look for "Sušak" written adjacent to the coastline (but it's written in what represents sea) and there's the D3 terminus.--Tomobe03 (talk) 12:41, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
- I see... in other words, the A6 and A7 are concurrent at that location? Allens (talk | contribs) 12:44, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
- No, The A6 terminates at Orehovica (as seen here)
and southbound A6 defaults to northbound A7. The southernmost junction of the D3 and the A6 is in Kikovica interchange, about 5.5km north of the A6 southern terminus, but the D3 continues further south and passes under the A7 in this place in the photo - the bridge carries the A7, and the tunnel perpendicular to the bridge carries the D3, i.e. the D3 follows this route.--Tomobe03 (talk) 12:57, 5 June 2012 (UTC) - Mind you, the photo is outdated a bit now, there are two bridges at the site now, each carrying one carriageway of the A7.--Tomobe03 (talk) 12:58, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
- OK, so in other words, the line regarding the D3 should say that it intersects with the A6 motorway, and "A6 motorway" should be a link to A6 motorway, not (as is currently the case) A7 motorway? Thanks... (What are you meaning by "defaults" in the above, incidentally?) Allens (talk | contribs) 13:11, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry about that, it would be better to say, it did default to northbound A7 because the traffic not using any of the A6's exit lanes would end up on the A7 going north. However, a recent reconstruction of the Orehovica interchange altered the A6 endpoint and its two southbound traffic lanes ultimately have a solid line painted between them, followed by physical barriers in between - the left lane joining the southbound A7, and the right lane joining the northbound A7.
- The defaulting is still present at the northern terminus of the A6, where northbound A6 traffic defaults to northbound A1.

- No, The A6 terminates at Orehovica (as seen here)
