Useless dates edit

I have removed the useuless birth and death dates on this entry. He was listed as dying 1023, but that is his year of marriage. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.156.70.110 (talk) 14:04, 31 March 2011 (UTC)Reply

Reverted as this does not offer information to the contrary Boatgypsy (talk) 08:02, 18 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Reversion of Graffix's Edit edit

I have reluctantly reverted the above edit as, whilst additional information is welcome, this appears to be original research, which is either improperly referenced or referenced to a personal website which appears to be still under construction - certainly not functioning properly. Moreover their were a number of points which appear to be highly personal political views rather than established fact. Wikipedia material should be verifiable.

I would welcome further debate on this and would encourage Graffix to refine his/her contribution within Wikipedia guidelines.Boatgypsy (talk) 07:57, 18 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Cynfyn ap Gwerstan's age edit

The page for Cynfyn ap Gwerstan says he was born about 985, but that his wife Angharad ferch Owain was born 70 years later in 1065. Is that correct? Thank you. Rissa, Guild of Copy Editors (talk) 19:41, 22 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for pointing that out. I've just had a quick read through and it seems to me that the information is factually wrong. Angharad ferch Owain is, as you say much too young to have been his wife. Following the hyperlink for her takes us to the information that she was the wife of his son Gruffydd ap Cynan, who is of the right generation. Cynfyn may well have had a wife called Angharad, but it wasn't this one. The information seems to have come from one Darrell Wolcott, who runs something called the Centre For The Study of Ancient Wales. However, Wolcott seems to be the only person who has anything to do with this grand-sounding organisation and a google search on the address shows nothing but residential houses. I suspect he is a self-publisher and runs a couple of websites. Perhaps not a reputable source. Would you care to edit or shall I? Boatgypsy (talk) 21:25, 22 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Oh, and I've just followed up the link for that information, and it is dead. Boatgypsy (talk) 21:35, 22 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

His stated mother - Nest ferch Cadell - is chronologically not possible edit

Assuming his birth date of around 990 is approximately correct, it is chronologically impossible for his mother to be Nest ferch Cadell - daughter of Cadell ap Brochfael who died around 808 - as she would be at least 180 years old when Cynfen ap Gwerystan was born! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iandelg (talkcontribs) 06:55, 16 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
