Time formatting edit

Is it common usage anywhere to format a time of "3 minutes, 57 and 101 thousandths seconds" as 3:57:101? In spite of the obvious extra digit, that looks like 3 hours, 57 minutes to me. There's probably minimal risk of confusion, given that we're talking about 4 kilometers and not 140, but I still think it's best not to have it even look like hours. Yes, I was probably just being over-zealous with the re-formatting. People tend not to think of milliseconds as a unit of time, but as a proportion of a second, so it makes sense to differentiate. I used this format somewhere else, so I'll correct it. Yohan euan o4 (talk) 00:30, 19 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
