Aboriginal or Indigenous? edit

Changed "Aboriginal" to "First Nations" or "Indigenous" in text, except where quoted.

In general, Indigenous seems to be the most widely accepted in a Canadian context, as "Aboriginal" is literally translated as "not original".

You can't just substitute First Nations for aboriginal people of Canada, since that term leaves out Inuit and Métis people. Ahalenia (talk) 15:42, 5 December 2018 (UTC)AhaleniaReply

Thank you, Ahalenia . Does it make sense to clarify when an artist is Inuit, Métis, etc.? Or does Indigenous work overall unless necessary to clarify? Seazzy (talk) 16:11, 5 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Indigenous is growing as an umbrella term if you are discussing all three; otherwise, using the individual terms makes sense (more specific). I've seen the acronym "FNIM" in use, but that looks hideous and is not clear expect to people already familiar with the terminology. Ahalenia (talk) 18:35, 11 December 2018 (UTC)ahaleniaReply
