Merge?
editThis article has a lot of cited material that deals with Cumans as opposed to the territory they occupied. Should the Cumans and Cumania articles be merged?--tufkaa 15:12, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- Shouldn't be merged, because some of this has nothing to do with Cumans as an ethnic group, but it is possible that some of the material here should be refactored to Cumans. -- Jmabel | Talk 05:13, 8 August 2006 (UTC)
Cardinal Colours
editWasn't Black the colour for North and White for the West as in [here] ?
Dasht-i Qipchaq
editDasht-i Qipchaq is directed to Cumania. But in the text, Kipchaks and Cumans are differentiated and they have separate articles in Wikipedia. If they really are two different people than, Dasht-i Qipchaq (plains of Kipchack) should not be directed to Cumania (land of Cumans).Nedim Ardoğa (talk) 15:22, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
- Fixed: Dasht-i Qipchaq now redirects to Kipchaks. ITSENJOYABLE (talk) 06:59, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Unreliable source
edit[1] — Adjiev's writings are 'folk-history' (pseudoscience), they are not reliable sources. See ru:Аджиев, Мурад Эскендерович. I've removed ref to them. --Q Valda (talk) 09:00, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
Coat of Arms
editThe coat of Arms shown in the article is the coat of arms of the hungarian region of Cumania — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2003:57:E351:9E75:DD85:41FA:2D02:99D9 (talk) 13:38, 20 December 2015 (UTC)
O´RLY?
edit"The climate is cold, and their water comes from springs and wells."
Could someone explain the difference, else my English Dictionary doesn´t make any difference - is this nonsense?--2003:F2:83C8:4B01:B177:89A6:DFD7:DE7C (talk) 22:18, 24 May 2019 (UTC)
- A spring is a natural source of water coming from an outcrop of rock; a well is a man-made structure for obtaining water from underground. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.111.29.1 (talk) 04:19, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
This page should deal only with the region
editThis page should deal with the geographic region "Cumania". The confederation, that is a different concept from the region, should be dealt with in a separate article (Cuman–Kipchak confederation). Many other languages' Wiki pages that link Cumania deal with only the region (or grassland). For example, Chinese wiki has another article dealing with the Confederation (zh:庫曼汗國). The confederation should not be included in this page.--ABCEdit (talk) 12:16, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
- Until this separate article is not ready, there is not consensus for removal.(KIENGIR (talk) 16:42, 26 December 2020 (UTC))
- I agree with this proposal. I've added a tag. Super Ψ Dro 10:19, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
- Can you provide some sources which demonstrate independent usage? CMD (talk) 14:03, 14 January 2021 (UTC)
- Disagree Cuman Kipchak confederation was not a proper state. Beshogur (talk) 23:59, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
- Oppose Is there a purely geographical definition of Cumania, independent of a Cuman people or polity, or its legacy? Does it exist today? I thought it was just an alternate name for the country/federation of Cumans and its successor(s). The definition or definitions in this article is already confusing enough: two articles will be more so, unless they represent well defined and completely independent subjects, and not just two overlapping aspects. —Michael Z. 19:45, 8 February 2022 (UTC)
