I believe M. Obfuscato's equatorial guinea line is a reference to the Illuminatus! trilogy by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson, which would mean that it is not Lovecraft canon, and probably not appropriate to this piece. --151.203.127.125 01:53, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

I am very puzzled by "The Diocese of Providence neglected the church and closed it down due to the pagan/Gaelic style of the church and because they saw it as unfit for the lofty and extravagant Italians that were quickly taking over the neighborhood.[11]
I have no idea what is meant by "the pagan/Gaelic style of the church," (always looked like a perfectly ordinary church to me) but the church closed in the 1990s, when the neighborhood had been an Italian one for nearly a century (HPL's story refers to this, by the way). I googled the supposed source for the above claims (citation 11, "Builder's and Razor's. A Historical account of Masonry and Church building in Providence") and couldn't find evidence it exists. I suspect someone was either trolling or presenting a fictitious in-world Cthulhu mythos source as fact?
