Birth date/year?

edit

I have noticed this has changed a few times. I would like to know where whoever added it got their info from. First it's Oct/Nov/Dec '88. Now it's '85. The bottom of the page that links to related articles includes 1991 births. I changed it to 1991 until I click on a link that says otherwise. Don't want to tick anyone off but I will point out she was listed as having been born in 1991, not '85 or '88. Guidorulz (talk) 03:43, 9 August 2011 (UTC)GuidorulzReply

I've noticed the change a few times too. And I think it's less misleading to just remove the year entirely till we're sure? I've seen a few sources site her as '88 too. Maybe we should leave it year-less till there's better proof? Thedastardly (talk) 00:52, 11 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. Heck, I can't even find a decent source for her birth DAY, let alone her birth YEAR. About all I can find is "twenty-something" found here. Tabercil (talk) 23:54, 12 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

There still seems to be some disagreement about her birth year. One minute it's there, another day it's gone. I've seen three different places list her as 22,23 and 26. Can we just leave this alone till there is some proper confirmation on this? Distordia (talk) 16:03, 21 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Right, I've removed the birth date and semi-protected the article due to the constant edit warring. Do not readd with a reliable source to back it up! Tabercil (talk) 15:49, 4 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

You meant, “do not re-add without a reliable source”. I was not able to find anything but a “facebook event” around 2010-07-23 for a “Crystal Reed 25th Birthday Party” which would make her now 26, even tough it does not provide an exact date (only ’85, assuming the party is in the same year), but I suggest also to remove the Category 1988 births. Ochristi (talk) 16:51, 5 September 2011 (UTC)Reply
Woops, you're right about the phrasing, and I've changed the category to one that's more appropriate. Tabercil (talk) 19:11, 5 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

I removed to birth date twice again, for those who are about to add it, self published sites, as blogs, fan pages, and alike are not suitable for wikipedia sourcing, as stated above those are no reliable sources. Especially living persons has to be handled with care. I fear the birth date is an information which once stated somewhere made it’s circles through the internet, each page is copying from each other. Ochristi (talk) 11:03, 19 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

Not sure how much proof this is, but it seems about right. She's currently dating some TV Show Host called Oliver Trevena, and on his Twitter page, on Feb 6th (or 7th), he wished her a Happy Birthday: here. So I guess that solves one mystery. Still not sure about her birth year though. None of her co-stars acknowledged the birthday which makes me think she's intentionally making this info hard to get. Distordia (talk) 22:17, 21 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Having learned from another article I tried to edit that some sites are bad sources, I understand your logic but I for one am not sure about the year. Until she states it, which I doubt, we have the day(feb. 6) — preceding unsigned comment made Guidorulz (talk) 21:19, May 25, 2012 (UTC)

Further on this: I am watching the article for a while and editors seem to see the need to add a birth date, but there has never been provided any reliable source. I suspect several feedback loops and reposts from various self published sources. So it does seem unlikely for such to suddenly appear. Next time this happens I will request another protection with a doubtful improvement for the situation as the already present in code notice “<!--Do not add a birth date without a RELIABLE SOURCE to back it up-->” seems to be blatantly ignored.
Another thing I noticed the change from her sourced birthplace from Roseville to Detroit, which makes me think editors do not even think about what they are doing. There is no other way to understand this, hm? Ochristi (talk) 06:48, 18 July 2012 (UTC)Reply

I did a little digging around to try to find the birthdate but one website had 4 people saying 1988 and 3 people saying 1985. What I got from that is that nobody knows when she was born and are just making guesses. Whoever is putting in the date on her page, I am requesting that you put your source here.
So apparently Zachs81 wants to start an edit war with me over Crystal Reed's birthdate. I am not interested in this. I am requesting that a senior editor put an end to it before it gets out of hand. --guidorulz 2013-07-09T17:29:45 (UTC)

Currently I think the latest twitter source (currently in use) is by the subject, therefore is valid to be used as a primary selfpub. src., according to WP:BLPSPS. However, as of now, *no one* provided any source for the year, which I personally would deem verifiable. Those would be any proper news article, interview or what not. But fan pages, "data aggregation pages", which are not editorially maintained, rather not. As I mentioned IMDb provides user created content, with low effort it is possible to change the information displayed. I do not know if the contributions are reviewed, especially the initial one, which set the information to year to X. I would like to be convinced otherwise, but that is what I see for now. Update: She said on a TV show (Fashion Police on E! on August 2, 2013, thanks for the find Jbelthrop07), that she is at that time 28 years old, making her birth year 1985. Ochristi (talk) 16:43, 4 August 2013 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Crystal Reed

edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Crystal Reed's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
