Summary edit

Put up a summary. It's somewhat "meh" but it's marginally better than what was up before. Hope someone else can take a crack at it. --User:Jenmoa 20:05, 14 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

UK Publication Date edit

I have a copy of the UK fourth impression, dated 1948 (Joanthan Cape), which lists the publication history as follows:

'First Published September 1948

Second Impression September 1948

Third Impression September 1948

Fourth Impression 1948'

I have therefore amended date on the main page. Hope this is enough information, please advise if more is needed.--Malpensilo (talk) 16:42, 9 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

wrong publication date edit

Publication date: December 2028

As the grandson of the author I would be interested to know the years of the books banning in South Africa and when this ban was lifted, or is this just the writer sucking his or her thumb??

I should inform you that at the premier of Zoltan Korda's movie, Alan Paton and his wife sat next to D.F.Malan and his wife. Quite an unlikely scene, but historically correct.

As far as the comment below is concerned it should read "Braai the Beloved Country". Braais are an integral part of South African culture. It was a witty newspaper headline from South Africa in the 1980s.

Irelevent Section edit

The section on "Braie, the Beloved Coountry" seems completly irrelevent and rather biased. Does anyone else agree?

Fair use rationale for Image:Crybelovedcover.jpg edit

Image:Crybelovedcover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Move? edit

The current name for this article is Cry, The Beloved Country. In book titles, isn't "the" always supposed to be lowercase, except when it's the first word in the title? And it's lowercase on the cover. 74.33.174.133 (talk) 03:35, 16 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Priest or pastor? edit

From what I can remember when I read the book, Kumalo was an Anglican minister, so the word "priest" is probably as suitable as the word "pastor", though I would have to reread the book. Martinvl (talk) 20:45, 4 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
