Early details of band

I think the most important (as well as the hardest to find) details, are on the origins of the band. Everyone knows a lot about them after they became famous. But what was the exact date (or year) that the band "Coven" was formed? Where was their first concert? What were their first songs? When did they first write the songs in the "Witchcraft" album? In the 60s, they were an important band in the psychedelic scene in the U.S., with Timothy Leary, for example, attending one of their concerts, and another concert being planned for Anton LaVey. First Music Video...?

The claim of them making "one of the 1st music videos ever...directly for an album title song" is weird. What does that mean, that before that, no one had shot a music video for the title track of their album? They certainly weren't the first to shoot music videos; there are plenty from the 1960's all over Youtube (real ones, not concert or tv footage). Creating a Wikipedia entry for the "Witchcraft" album?

I think there is a lot of info around in books, and on the net, about Coven's first album, "Witchcraft", and it's considered kind of a one-of-a-kind classic. Coven are psychedelic rock not hard rock

I used a source from some site that was called last.fm that called Coven a psychedelic rock band not hard rock and called thier first called "standard pop psychedelia". Why was it removed? I posted the comment that this band is not hard rock and still no one has commented back. This group has been falsely liked to hard rock, when they were pure psychedelia. Last.fm confirmed that they were psychedelic pop. If no one responses I will remove hard rock as a genre. Rockgenre (talk 04:02, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

In all honesty, Coven may not have been pure hard rock, but they were absolutely not psychedelic pop. Their sound was dark and aggressive, and the only reason their early stuff wasn't pure hard rock was because it wasn't inherently riff-driven. On the other hand their third album ("Blood on the Snow") has a bunch of ballads and some pretty solid hard rock material. (Albert Mond (talk) 20:13, 15 November 2009 (UTC))

First "Black Mass" on record?

Granted, it's quoted hyperbole, but, long before Coven, and at least two years prior on vinyl, there was Anton Szandor LaVey. His first album, "The Satanic Mass", https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Satanic_Mass , not only features a "black mass", it clocks in at 19:48 minutes. This version was recorded in 1967,and released in 1968. So, at best, Coven was the 2nd group to release a "Black Mass" on record. 75.106.219.197 (talk) 15:24, 2 April 2021 (UTC)

Who is David Wilkerson?

There is a “D. Wilkerson” who is credited on a few of the songs on Witchcraft Destroys Minds & Reaps Souls, which I’m guessing may mean David Wilkerson, but who is he? I can’t find any information at all about him, about what his connection to the band might have been, yet he’s listed here as a former official member of the band, even though, for example, Jim Donlinger isn’t.
