editI plan on editing the general layout of the article to make the overview more broad. I took out the paragraph on logic because there were no references to support the claims. Furthermore, I will be adding content about the history and kinds of counterfactual thinking as well as different theories and consequences of counterfactual thinking. visual representation
editGreat start to this article. Visual representation could greatly enhance the presentation of material. Also, more sources to the activation portion of this article may increase the viability of it.

What do we mean by Contrafactual?
editIt seems to me that this expression should include the kind of situation where both a fact and its opposite occur simultaneously. This is not the same as what is being described in the way of thinking about what if the first situation was not happening. Perhaps I am wrong but what I am saying is that in this world there are so many pairs of conflicting ideas, that instead of treating them by simple logic as to one being correct and the other not, or for that matter one is good and the other evil, that they both occur together, and consequently the kind of logic needed to better understand what is going on is confused.Macrocompassion (talk) 08:47, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
Downward/upward counterfactuals
editI went through and expounded on what downward and upward counterfactuals are. They associated downard counterfactuals with negative emotions and upward counterfactuals with positive emotions but the article I read and cited made me think that those weren't accurate definitions. Downward counterfactuals actually make the person feel better about the actual outcome and upward counterfactuals make the person feel worse. However, upward counterfactuals allow the person to see how they can improve in the future which leads to more positive results (https://byui.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://search.ebscohost.com/login.aspx?direct=true&AuthType=ip&db=buh&AN=4073889&site=eds-live&scope=site). I changed their definitions of the kinds of counterfactuals.Makaylahatt11 (talk) 02:50, 5 May 2020 (UTC)
