Riverside Inn caption

edit

I am puzzled by the recently amended caption for the Riverside Inn photograph. To my mind (after closely studying the Google Earth aerial photograph) the picture actually shows the original front of the Inn, now deemed to be the back of the building and the pathway in the picture's foreground is laid on the original route of the Severn Valley railway line.

However, the editor that amended the caption seems to be implying that the picture shows the current front of the building and the "roadway" seen is the current main road. Could someone who lives in Cound, or knows the building well, please clear up the situation? 21$₡€₦₮UR¥ GR€€$U₣₣(talk) 19:10, 26 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

The sections on geology and sandstone quarrying could be edited as it verges on digression from the Cound parish territory. The Sharpstones Hill quarry and the sandpit where the Condover Mammoth was found are within the parishes of Condover and Bayston Hill which do not border Cound (the parishes of Berrington and Pitchford buffer Cound from the two). I have noticed there is identical text in the Bayston Hill wiki article which suggests it may have been copied from that page to this without much tailoring to the Cound context. I do not live in Cound but from memory of travelling through its parish I question if Lyth Hill and Sharpstones can even be seen from its territory?Cloptonson (talk) 08:26, 13 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

I have deleted from the quarrying subsection the material relating to Condover as I have just found it is identically given in Condover's own article!Cloptonson (talk) 19:30, 27 June 2020 (UTC)Reply

Westminster representation needs updating (section Governance)

edit

An update is needed about what constituency Cound is in and who represents on several counts:

  • Due to constituency boundary changes, effective at 2024 general election, the Shrewsbury and Atcham constituency ceased to exist and was redesignated simply as Shrewsbury (UK Parliament constituency).
  • Daniel Kawczynski was defeated at the 2024 election by Julia Buckley who is now MP for Shrewsbury.
  • I query whether Cound parish is still in the Shrewsbury constituency or whether it was one of the southern parishes of the Shrewsbury and Atcham constituency that were awarded to South Shropshire, whose MP since the 2024 election is Stewart Anderson.
