History edit

I've added some info into the history section. I've added most of the information on Harrison. I also redid the part on the civil war. I used Shelby Foots book The Civil War: A Narrative, volume 3 for a reference. Not sure how to reference that on here.

I also added some more info on the historical sites, the signing of the constitution and the old capital building. I am trying to think of other interesting and useful things to add (I live in corydon) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cool10191 (talkcontribs) 16:54, 31 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have removed the following external link. * Corydon Online. it links to a page that only repeats wiki info. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cool10191 (talkcontribs) 14:29, 7 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

an IP removed the note that Thomas Posey was the son of george washington saying he was not the son. I have added it back on as "the alleged illegitimate son of george washington". This is noteworthy to say that the son of george washington lived in the town! And thomas posey own wiki page says he may or may not have been washington's son.Cool10191 (talk) 19:14, 12 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

i added two pictures, the battle park and the elm tree. I have cool pick of how it looks now, but i think the old one of how it looked then is better. Cool10191 (talk) 18:02, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

OK- now i've seperated the history section, i think it was getting pretty big, i been adding alot. i think the logical point to seperate it right now is early history and post-capitol history.Cool10191 (talk) 19:16, 13 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I've done all i can edit

I've done all I can on this article, I think it is alot better than when i started on it. (I have wrote about 90% of the article)This needs an expert to fix it up much better. I am going to move on to another harrison couty article nowCool10191 (talk) 20:20, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have a few pictures that might be useful. One is of what's left of the Constitutional Elm.--Bedford 20:43, 18 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

I found some stuff from the indiana historical society i've been reading and not all of the dates match up with other sources i've read. I'm not sure what dates to go by on the article, so I am just going with what seems correct when I am coming across these conflicting dates. This is just an FYICool10191 (talk) 15:29, 26 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

You might want to go with the ones that seem correct and footnote them with a statement that "according to other sources (list sources), the date is such and such". Just a suggestion.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 15:42, 26 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Madness of Corydon edit

The infobox claims that the motto of Corydon is:

A, Corydon, Corydon, quae te dementia cepit!

This means, "Corydon, Corydon, how madness has taken you!" It is from Virgil's Second Eclogue, which begins:

Formosum pastor Corydon ardebat Alexin
Delicias domini....

"The shepherd Corydon burned with passion for the handsome boy Alexis, the master's pet." It is a poem celebrating Greek-style homosexuality. The writers of the hymn that the referenced source gives at the origin of the name probably lifted it from a collectio of vaguely Greek styled names; I suspect that this particular bit of Virgil was not widely read at the time. I rather doubt this is the motto of Corydon, Indiana, but next time I am by the courthouse there I will ask. For the moment I marked it as needing a citation. If this is the deliberate insertion of falsehood as a joke, it's a cut above the usual vandalism. - Smerdis of Tlön - killing the human spirit since 2003! 04:58, 16 February 2013 (UTC)Reply

I gave it a B grade for having the necessary basic information about the town, and gave it Mid importance as, while it's population would deem Low, but its history is important enough to bump it up one ranking.--Bedford 15:34, 5 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
