Please note that the aliens are not in the rocks; they are the rocks (or whatever it is they're made of). And it is not clear whether Robert Culp's wife is dead at the end (though the implication leans that way). I've made these changes.
Corpus Earthling is an example of a Really Stupid story, that because of excellent acting, above-average direction, and really outstanding cinematography of a quality uncommon on TV series of that era, is a classic. It is arguably SF-noir, one of very few films in that genre. There must be some intelligent critique of this episode that the article can point to. I urge the writer to locate it.

Another Similar Story edit
A possible source may be the short story "The Pillows", which takes place aboard a spaceship returning to Earth from Neptune's moon Triton. In this story, the aliens are rocks which absorb heat, then release it. The astronauts pick them up, using them to warm themselves on Triton. One of the astronauts hears the rocks plotting, and is killed by them when he tries to warn the others. I don't remember the author, but I ran across it in an anthology in the '70s.
