Number of episodes

Is this going to be an ongoing update issue; people updating the "Number of episodes to date"... How tedious and somewhat irritating to those of us with the page on watchlist. Update it each month, or year perhaps, not every bloomin' week.

Hardylane (talk) 21:48, 16 December 2010 (UTC)
Because doing it once a week is easier to track. If it was left to do monthly, then it's easier to get it wrong, especially when there are a non-standard number of episodes. One extra edit a week isn't going to make much difference to your watchlist, is it? AnemoneProjectors 00:19, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
Why can't we change the number of episodes its been like that since April 8th. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.196.73.137 (talk) 18:49, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
Done. Ooh, Fruity @ Ooh, Chatty 19:06, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
It was being updated frequently (which is why there is a template in the first place..) but someone removed the edit link - i've restored that too. Bungle (talkcontribs) 19:51, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
Ok, thank you i was just a little confused. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.197.137.224 (talk) 13:05, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
Im not sure but has Coronation Street done 8,000 episodes because it says on September 23rd 2011 Corrie did its 8,000 which i know it has not. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.216.241.144 (talk) 15:13, 1 October 2011 (UTC)

Well nobody's edited the episode count since last July. Someone did now but in the page rather than the template, and it got reverted, so it's still not been updated since last July. Do we really need a template? It's not a problem with the EastEnders page having the episode count updated in the article - it tends to happen a few times a month. Better than once a year anyway! –AnemoneProjectors23:03, 10 January 2013 (UTC)

Crossover section

It is claimed in the crossovers section that characters from Emmerdale appeared in the special Coronation Street: Viva Las Vegas!.However I can find no sources that prove this. Should this be removed from the section? Bleaney (talk) 01:17, 24 September 2011 (UTC)

Introduction missing

hey there. speaking as someone with no familiarity and only cursory interest in this series, i feel the article is missing an introduction, before diving into the history -- what's the series about? are there themes that span its long history? cheers, Doceddi (talk) 13:29, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

Broadcast schedule table

This table provides no clear information, and so is essentially redundant! As a casual reader, at a glance (and even after trying to figure it out) it's not clear what the dark vs light green blocks mean. I can infer that it may somehow relate to timeslots from reading paragraph 5 of 'United Kingdom', but this is a far too convoluted process to understand a tables meaning!

Anyone able to clear this up? Patternofknives (talk) 14:41, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Seconded! This table tells absolutely nothing, without some form of an explanation(preferred). Lacking such an explanation, and with no-one willing to MAKE one, would suggest it isn't important and should be removed(not preferred, but better than just a nonsense table).85.229.59.238 (talk) 17:47, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
Considering that colour should not be the sole way of conveying information on Wikipedia, it should either be completely revised and explained with text, or just removed. I assume that the light green colour is for a second episode, but this is a very poor way of getting the information across. The "Broadcast day appearances" table is also confusing. Wouldn't it be better to remove both tables and just have the existing text, which seems to do the job of letting readers know when episodes are broadcast much better than the tables? –AnemoneProjectors18:12, 20 October 2013 (UTC)

Removed although the whole article needs an overhaul. Simply south ...... time, department skies for just 8 years 13:45, 6 May 2014 (UTC)

The Fair City article could be used as a basis to improve this article. The 2010s section needs more references. The 2000s and 2010s need more paragraphs. Tails3333 (talk) 17:16, 29 July 2014 (UTC)

Sinkhole april fool

This was clearly a joke. Twa..tttz. (talk) 20:31, 11 July 2014 (UTC)

Yes, Anthony Appleyard was pointing this out and asking users not to include it in the article. –AnemoneProjectors10:24, 13 July 2014 (UTC)

No of episodes

This number in the infotable is incorrect. It states that 8651 have been shown as of 29/5/15 but the episode shown on that date was 8650. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.43.185.79 (talk) 11:48, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

Yearly Ratings Average

Like the EastEnders page, can someone make a table for the yearly ratings average. — Preceding unsigned comment added by XtremeNerdz12 (talkcontribs) 19:44, 21 June 2017 (UTC)

The BARB website only holds information from 1998 so for the data before then it would be difficult to find. We did manage to get it for EastEnders with special subscriptions to certain sites, so it could be possible for Coronation Street as well, though I don't know how far back the records actually go. Kelvin 101 might be able to answer that question. But it would take a very long time to compile the information. For EastEnders it took months, for Coronation Street it would take longer as it has been around a lot longer. But I agree it would be a good idea to add. — anemoneprojectors 13:59, 21 July 2017 (UTC)

@XtremeNerdz12:Hi there it took many months to compile all the episode figures, it's funny as when I want to try and figure out how coronationstreet.wikia.com obtain the episode figures I spoke to an admin, the conversation is here

He told me that before Barb record viewing viewers that two magazines Television Mail and Broadcast published weekly viewing figures. However when he did his research, he had to visit the British Newspaper Library but luckily I managed to find out the magazines had been digitize late last year but its only available to students of universities that have bought a packages with Proquest of Gale Group]].

Unfortunately I no longer have access but if you know a student who has access to athans you can access

Broadcast (Archive: 1973-2000), The Stage (Archive: 1959-1994) and The Stage (Archive: 1995-2000) one the below link

and The Listener Historical Archive (1929-1991)

The british newspaper archive online version is available to the public but it's at a cost, this would give you access to The Stage archive.

I hope this makes sense, if you have any further questions let us known. Thanks Kelvin 101 (talk) 21:13, 21 July 2017 (UTC)

Mess at the top of the page

The top part of the page seems to be in rather a mess. I tried fixing it but to no avail. I deleted it several times in order to draw attention to it but to no avail. Can an editor please fix it so it goes back to normal?77.97.55.147 (talk) 20:29, 31 May 2019 (UTC)

Could you be more specific, please? What do you mean by the "top part" of the page? I noticed (and reverted) a deletion of the infobox. If that is what you mean, I see nothing wrong with it. Can you describe the problem, please? BTW, deleting material without an explanation is not a good way of drawing attention. It looks like vandalism.—Jerome Kohl (talk) 21:11, 31 May 2019 (UTC)

Importance ratings

When the notice above lists the WikiProjects that this is of interest to it mentions WikiProject Soap Operas. It gives a quality rating for this WikiProject, but not an importance rating. Could some one fix this, please? I think it might be rated Top Importance, given that Coronation Street is one of Britain's most famous television soap operas. Vorbee (talk) 19:07, 7 July 2019 (UTC)

I just tried, but I don't think the template allows for an importance rating to be implemented. – DarkGlow () 14:03, 12 January 2021 (UTC)
