Racist Comments

I rewrote the section about his comments towards stevie. It's by no means perfect as is, but I think it provides a much more fair look at the event. There's so much more than was put in the one-sentence afterthought we had before. Himself

Is it necessary to put "himself" after each video appearance? One would assume it would be for his skateboarding, not as an actor. Dubkiller 02:11, 21 April 2007 (UTC)
i agree, it makes the article looks unprofessional with "himself" typed over and over again.

I see no reason to keep the testicle comment. If there are no citations or sources backing this up, it is not a "KNOWN FACT". The only mention of Corey Duffel and one testicle I managed to find on Google was simply a re-posting of this article on a random Myspace profile. I did, however, find mention of Patrick Melcher, another pro skater, and how he has only one testicle. The Duffel story is dubious until there is some sort of proof. What I don't understand is why the references to this guys racist past are always edited out. He made some unexcusable racist remarks and even though these get referenced in this article, somehow they always get edited out. One thing is for sure, in the commercialised world of modern skateboarding, i'd sure as hell want to know if my kids purchasing decisions of boards and shoes were going to racist ill educated morons like Duffel. ....................................................................................You don't know him and he is NOT a racist and a great guy, my son looks up to him and I don't care, he is a good role model and great guy, he made some bad remarks yes he did, we all make mistakes. We all make mistakes? At what point does calling someone 'a dirty nigger' stop becoming a mistake and start becoming just plain racist. He may be a great guy, I'm sure family members of the Klan think they are great guys too. Of course I don't know him. What I do know is people have a right to know who has controversial views on race and who doesnt. I'm sure Steve Williams' family has a different view of Duffel than you do. Being called names is no excuse. Racism is racism. You are either for or against it. I'm sure we can guess which side you come down on. And lets be honest, Corey must have got his racist views from somewhere......his family maybe?..................................................................................................... He does not come from a racist family, like I said it was bad on his part, but he was also called a faggot and other names. He publicly apologized for his remarks and he also has friends of many colors and backgrounds. People say dumb things and unfortunately he said something that was put in print. He has paid for it, he has learned from it, and it did bring embarrisment to many of his family, me included. I am in no way saying it is OK to use the N word, but in a lot of circles people ( and I am not saying myself) use the N word as a description of a type of person, just like people use the saying white trash to describe some toothless idiot who lives in a trailer. The N word is often used to describe people who happen to be black and have gold teeth, carry guns, are in gangs, who wear their pants down to their knees, who have no concern about others and who use drugs. I don't know why I am being bashed. I stand up for him because he is family. I was so embarrassed when the article came out, and ashamed. But I understand what he meant.On another issues, I strongley beleave no one should use the N word, not blacks or whites or anyone. I don't understand what gives one group of people the right to say it and not another. Also when Corey said this he was young, naive, still in high school . It was a poor choice of words, but I can honestly tell you how bad he felt and still does about the whole thing. We have all said and done things that were not very nice or smart and we learn from it. This one statement does not make him a racist. If you notice I am calling no one names, and I am not saying he was OK with what he said. . If you are adult enough to have a conversation about this without calling names then fine, but I see no reason why I am being called names. Like I said if you don't know him, don't know him personally and know what he is about and the love he has in his heart you have no right to judge him. Let he who judges first walk a mile in the others shoes before you judge.
