Talk:Confessions of an Opium Eater

I'm not familiar with this film, but if it takes place in San Francisco and centers around Tong war it can hardly be very closely based on Thomas De Quincy's novel which takes place in London and involves no such conflict. Perhaps something could be said about "deviations from the novel" or the like? Clearly I must leave such an addition up to someone more familiar with the film. The novel was about a young scholar of the classics who runs away to live on the streets of London and befriends a prostitute...? I'm not sure if an addition is necessary, but from what little is said about the film here, I can't even find a similarity (outside of the title) to De Quincy's "Confessions of an English Opium-Eater." --Curien1000 (talk) 04:44, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Sources and expansion

I would like to see this article expanded, but since I wrote the most comprehensive (or perhaps only) critical treatment of it, I think it would be rather more in the spirit of Wikipedia for someone else to do so. Much of my article (http://brightlightsfilm.com/71/71confessions_nortz.php#.UnrXLfmshzs) is aesthetic analysis and ergo not particularly suitable for the wiki, but it contains a bibliography and an elaboration of the bare facts of its production.
