"Because of its performance on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessments, Conestoga received extra funding from the state."

Needs verification

Dear Editor, As an actual student at Conestoga, I need to inform you that the revisions I made are legitimate. Some of the nicknames have actually been published in our school paper, the Spoke, and the section on the Genovese scandal is true, the school refused to let us publish it. Out of curiosity, who added me to this page? I guess it should provide some info if anyone googles me, so thanks. Just a bit puzzled though, its not like I was the only chess player recognized by the state last year(or even the best one). James Kennedy

Genovese

edit

The school keeps deleting all references to this. It should stay. Miserlou 01:10, 24 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

how do you know it's the school? and i think it should go just to get rid of all the trouble. -Colorfulharp233 19:54, 3 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I say it stays. -[[User: —Preceding unsigned comment added by NASAlandedonthemoon (talkcontribs) 22:40, January 7, 2007

Agreed. The anonymous editor who insists on removing this sourced information has made no attempt to discuss this edit. The info is sourced and while it does paint a bad picture for the school it does because it's a negative fact and not because we are inserting a negative POV. Deal with it. --ElKevbo 04:12, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Okay, Genovese has a source... but... the illegal drugs claim does not. WhisperToMe 04:23, 8 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

If this page is about Conestoga High School, then it should contain relevant information about the school. Not some event, that happened a couple years ago, as newsworthy as it may have been at the time. It serves no purpose to the school, nor to people interested in researching the school. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Luckycharm5780 (talkcontribs) 21:22, January 23, 2007

I disagree. That a teacher was, in the recent past, convicted or pedophilia is relevant to the school's article. --ElKevbo 02:30, 24 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Information such as academic standing, course offerings, notable achievements, sports, clubs, etc. are all things that are valid and should be noted in this article. The actions of some former teacher do nothing but reflect negativity on the school. It doesnt belong here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Luckycharm5780 (talkcontribs) 20:00, January 29, 2007

The actions on an institution's employees, particularly when those actions are completely contrary to the person's professional ethics, are appropriate topics in an encyclopedia article about that institution. It's unfortunate and there may not have been any way for the institution to know but the fact remains that a high school teacher was convicted of "a misdemeanor charge of corruption of a minor for having sexual contacts [with a 16 year old girl]." --ElKevbo 01:25, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply
The goal of wikipedia is not to reflect positively on the school. If there is a relevant claim with a verifying source, it should be included. Miserlou 05:48, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Triva section correction

edit

The Pioneer prank where he was abducted and photographed was carried out by the class of 91 rather than in "the late 90's". Photos were actually published in The Spoke.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.91.83.33 (talkcontribs) 21:43, May 8, 2007

Move Page

edit

The official name of the school is Conestoga Senior High School and as a result, I am going to move this page to Conestoga Senior High School and change this page to a redirect. The freddinator 02:57, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Huh? That link (and other pages on the same website) just say "Conestoga High School". I don't see "Senior" used anywhere. --ElKevbo 03:08, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
May 17, 1954: "School board votes to name the new high school Conestoga Senior High School" The freddinator 18:38, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for pointing that out! However, that doesn't change the fact that the common name of the institution appears to not include "Senior". If you have other references that seem to contradict this, please share them! --ElKevbo 21:31, 10 May 2007 (UTC)Reply
It's commonly referred to as "Conestoga High School", true, but it's also referred to as "Conestoga", "Stoga", and, very rarely (as in only by the principal), "The Big C". In order to avoid confusion, I moved the page to the official name. If you can give me precedent pointing in another direction, please do so and I will gladly move it back. Fair use rationale for Image:StogaLogo.gif

edit

Image:StogaLogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Clean up needed

edit

I have tried to remove unsourced/redundant material. I also removed the "controversy" section per relevance. Unforetunately this happens quite abit. If the school covered it up or helped in criminal behavior then it might be relevant, but as it is now, it really isn't relevant. Anyways, we should also put a section about that perverted fuck Mr. Roy --Tom 19:34, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Orphaned references in Conestoga High School

edit

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Conestoga High School's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "test":

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 03:41, 19 February 2013 (UTC)Reply
