Far-left edit

The Communist Party of China does not list far-left on its page due to combining elements of communism and capitalism (Socialism with Chinese characteristics). Should this page do the same, considering it has a similar mindset (Socialist-oriented market economy)? HapHaxion (talk / contribs) 21:07, 23 July 2018 (UTC)Reply

It certainly used to be far left. If it is no longer considered far left, then it might be better to put approximate dates on when it was far left.-- Toddy1 (talk) 19:31, 24 July 2018 (UTC)Reply
The Communist Party of China page was removed far-left. Both Communist Party of China and Communist Party of Vietnam should be considered as big tent authoritarianism and one-party state totalitarianism political system. They don't consider and used to be far-left or far-right.Marxistfounder (talk) 04:28, 4 February 2019 (UTC)Reply
I think the position might need sources in order to be valid, however i would not consider authoritarianism an ideology and would rather say this is a commentary on the way they have always been ruling. The ideologies shown in the article are the official ideologies of the party and the Socialist-oriented market economy is still the economic system in the country! Are they really communist? edit

I undid this edit as not neutral. However, the edits raise a good point, and could potentially be reincluded if neutral and well sourced. The question raised: is the Communist party really Communist? Or does it only claim to be Communist and is in fact Capitalist? Clearly some better sources are needed to claim as such. Captain Eek Edits Ho Cap'n! 01:25, 16 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Note that In Defence of Marxism often labels communists from different currents as not really communists or equivalent. So not a reliable source for the ideology field of the infobox. --MarioGom (talk) 07:38, 16 October 2019 (UTC)Reply

Sole ruling party edit

@CentreLeftRight: The wording "sole ruling party" implies that there are other parties competing with it. This does not reflect the reality that it is the sole legal party in the country. The "sole ruling party" idea is already conveyed in the sentence were it is stated that its supremacy is guaranteed by the constitution. DHN (talk) 19:46, 10 November 2021 (UTC)Reply

@DHN: In my experience, "sole ruling party" has always implied a one-party system in which the party being described is legally (Communist Party of Vietnam) or de facto (e.g. Communist Party of China) the only party allowed to form government, while "ruling party" implies that other parties are competing with it. However, I recognise that "sole legal party" and "sole ruling party" is ultimately a distinction without a difference, so I would not oppose a revert back to your original edit. Full name edit

@CentreLeftRight: When talking about the CPV being the "founding party", I think it's necessary to write out the full name of the current state, since Vietnam as a nation has had many previous states, some of which were not founded by the party. DHN (talk) 03:39, 12 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

That is true. CentreLeftRight 03:47, 12 May 2022 (UTC)Reply
