Coffee on Major edit

From "Trivia" section: "When Sybil throws coffee at Basil, some accidentally lands on the Major, however in the next shot, Ballad Berkeley has a dry suit, showing the continuiity error that a break in filming was needed to clean him up." -- My recollection is the opposite: that the Major actually has the coffee on him for the remainder of the scene. Can anyone clarify? Rocksong 03:24, 15 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

You are correct, the Major is seen covered in Coffee after its been thrown. There are several examples of such moments throughout the series. 90.249.0.171 (talk) 16:51, 21 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Mr Kerr. edit

"Last appearance of George Lee - the only non-regular actor to play the same character twice, he appears as the delivery man: Mr Kerr." ~ I am removing "Mr Kerr" from this sentence (as well as from the cast list) - I have a book containing the script of "The Builders" (the first episode featuring the delivery man) which makes it quite clear that Mr Kerr was one of the Irish builders, not the delivery man. Somebody has obviously been confused by the credits somehow. The credits listed on the Wikipedia page for "The Builders" bear me out on this, so I'm fairly confident that I'm not mistaken here. Basil's money edit

Just watched this. In the end, Basil still doesn't lose all his money. He's given Mrs Richards £75, but was then given £95 and then had to give her £10 from the till, but the vase he's smashed is £75 - so he's £10 still in credit (£5 if you take out his inital stake on the bet). Not sure if it's really an error though.--Tuzapicabit (talk) 00:59, 4 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Pruned edit

I've pruned back the plot description as it seemed to go off on tangents all over the place (probably with so many editors adding in their favourite lines). It had become quite difficult to understand from an outsiders point of view. But one very quick note on what was there - she wasn't selectively hearing things when she spoke to her sister on the phone. She had been told the information and then she spoke into the phone - she didn't actually have a conversation over the phone).--Tuzapicabit (talk) 20:47, 4 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I hope you don't mind, but I felt it was a bit too thorough a trim, so I lengthened it just a bit. It's not as short as it was orginally, but hopefully short enough. Grieferhate (talk) 12:15, 25 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
Unfortunately, your new edit reverts it back to rambling with unnecessary minutae such as "CK Watt", 60%, toilet paper etc - not important to the plot. Also, there is no indication that she can't see the bath or view properly, which you've made assumptions on (the bath in the episode is pretty small). I'll leave it to see if there are any further changes (no doubt there will be), but please remember that it needs to be written in a fairly basic manner so that someone completely unfamiliar with the story can understand the overall plot.--Tuzapicabit (talk) 00:50, 26 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
I see your point. I have corrected at least one of the points you mentioned. However, I am leaving the parts about "CK Watt," the reduction and the paper scene because, in my opinion, they are not rambling - the "paper" part occurs just as Basil is collecting his winnings and some of the other "unnecessary minutae" are funny bits. I think that someone unfamiliar to the with the story would appreciate it if there were some funny segments mentioned - it's what got me interested in the show, after all, seeing some of those funny segments mentioned in a plot summary. Money edit

We should probably add something to the summary converting monetary amounts into what they're worth today, due to inflation. I notice, by glancing at the edit history, that we used to have one of these, but it was removed for being non-functional (for example, converting £10 into £0, which is obviously inaccurate. A working one should be instituted. --31.49.114.175 (talk) 13:48, 25 February 2018 (UTC)Reply
