Nesting habits:- I know that Wikipedia is not about 'original research' but in early May 2011 in Highland Scotland [Kirkmichael village, Perthshire], we heard a peculiar noise inside our woodburning stove. It was an exhausted goosander - which had come down our 20cm chimney, we assume, to nest. [How else could it have possibly got there?]. Extraordinary. What did Audubon call it? edit
