A bit of projection?

edit

The statement "It's the result of a 2D color space or 2D color gamut (that represent chromaticity) combined with the dynamic range" is not supported by any of the three cited sources, none of which mention dynamic range. Can we get a better description? I agree there may be a notable topic here, but this content is too flimsy. Dicklyon (talk) 03:09, 11 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yes, this definition is wrong. 3D volume existed first, area was derived later. Sure. 2D also represents Y, linear Y, it is just packed into one 2D image. This thing from rtings is very nice introduction. But people were obsessed over it for years, see "Colorimetry for HDTV" by LeRoy DeMarsh, that even discusses primaries of EUREKA 95. https://www.rtings.com/tv/discussions/GVJfNxZJK8fRvuyL/gamut-ring-diagrams-better-way-to-display-color-volume Valery Zapolodov (talk) 08:03, 20 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
