Button Gwinnett: burial here likely but not certain edit

Gwinnett, a signer of the Declaration of Independence, died in a duel in 1777. Signers Monument in Savannah was erected in 1848 to honor Gwinnett and Georgia's two other signers, Lyman Hall and George Walton. The remains of Hall and Walton were re-interred beneath the monument, but Gwinnett's were never found. However, it is believed Gwinnett had been buried in Colonial Park Cemetery, and thus a large memorial in his honor was erected here in 1964. I have provided source links for the above facts to help anyone doing further research on Gwinnett or the cemetery. Allreet (talk) 17:54, 9 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

One other source: An article in American Heritage recounts the search for Gwinnett's bones in the 1950s that led to the 1964 memorial in his honor. I'm agnostic on this, but love the story.
