There is some major-league wrong here:

1. The references to “Napoleonic French” are, just as Eklir says, without basis in reality. I have a link here that says Louisiana French is three varieties: Cajun, Creole and Colonial. So references to Napoleonic French, whatever that is, must go.
2. Colonial French was spoken by original colonists and not by Creoles. It refers to the standard French of America before the purchase, and not typically the French of either Creoles or Cajuns. This is the opposite of what the article currently says. References to Creole French belong on the Lousiana Creole French page.
3. Plantation Society French was a prestige dialect within the larger substrate of Louisiana Creole French. Neither have anything to do with Colonial French.

I believe "Creole" is being used here in its original sense - the original white colonists and their descendants. Plantation Society French is being discussed here, so far as I can tell, because it is/was usually considered to be identical with Colonial French in the past. According to LSU Colonial French is largely considered to have melded into Cajun, though speakers of Cajun may additionally use "society" French.--Cúchullain ^t/c 18:11, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Plantation Society French (PST) = Colonial French (CF)?

This article bases its claim that these two varieties of Louisiana French are the same on Picone (2003). However, Picone's own claim is that PST was a high-prestige variety of French which attempted to replace the low-prestige CF of the early colonists. This has to be sorted out in this article. Recent edits

This edit introduced some errors, evidently based on errors in the infobox. The sources describe Colonial/Plantation Society French and Cajun/Louisiana Regional French as two forms of Louisiana French, along with Louisiana Creole French. They do not mention Missouri French, which is distinct (and was not spoken in Louisiana, or really in "American South").Cúchullain ^t/c 20:00, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

Louisiana French, Colonial French, Cajun French?

From my understanding, Acadian French was brought and mergered with "Colonial French" to create Cajun French. So then what about Louisiana French? How did Colonial French come from Louisiana French, if Louisiana French is the "current" of today? I am very confused as to why this is all necessary. Savvyjack23 (talk) 00:25, 18 June 2014 (UTC)

This article is unnecesarry and confusing

Why does this exist? It gives no examples to differentiate the language from what is said in the Louisiana French article. Whoever keeps adding in the name "Choctaw Patois" needs to stop as well.
